Soliciting thoughts- 2019 DRW F350 stolen (salvage but clear title)

Any idea what’s going on with the “custom” wiring on that tail light harness?

The Bud Light and 223 is just a typical evening for a Texas truck.
JWC,

Good catch. Someone was in there. I have zero idea why, they were in there in two places. I will be going through all the wiring when I get home. There is more of this. I also found around the spare tire a bunch of straw grass. So this truck was "in the field".

Out of all the things I found messed with, the thing I can't understand is the Sirius and maybe the gps antenna if paired was broken off. And this is very hard to break. My speculation is the theaf may have thought the truck could be tracked through that antenna.

Crazy story for you Mike:

I've been following All of your threads pretty closely especially this one. Anyways I knew that you were down there picking your truck up and this morning I embarked on a journey from Iowa to Phoenix but stopped in Albuquerque tonight. Anyways when I left the house this morning I had this thought: " wouldn't it be crazy if I saw your truck on the road"? I knew very implausibe just a funny thought.

In New Mexico I got on the 40 after I got some gas and as I was merging, an F-350 caught my eye. I thought hmm that's weird it has a brush guard and then it passed me and holy Moses it was you! I mean what are the odds coming from two different places and being on the I-40 at the exact same time (including that rough construction delay).

By the way I was the guy in the Crown Vic that you probably thought was a weirdo 😂 when you rolled your window down I knew you wouldn't be able to hear me but what I yelled was "bobistheoilguy"! Hahaha

Anyways good to hear your progress and I just had to share, safe travels my friend 🙌

Panther Mike. I am at buca de bepo in ABQ. Stop by. Lol, I saw the crown Vic and the spotlight, said maybe a BITOGER. Great to see you, but very disappointed we didn't get to stop.

It is a shame we live in a time when one has to be careful to pull over when asked.

Hey thanks for the offer! Pretty wore out I did a thousand miles today and I'm heading out pretty early in the morning maybe I'll see you out there again 🍻

In southern Utah fueling up. Decided to inspect the satellite and gps antenna issue. No idea why this was done. Also discovered the passenger windshield wiper was just sitting there.

Also think to mention the interior, although needs a vaccun and dust removal, is in near new condition. Decided to get brave and test the sunroof.

This truck might nickel and dime you to death fixing all of the abuse that it's had.

Does anyone want to take bets on how long it's going to just CLEAN the truck?

Definitely a lot of work for sure but I think he got the truck for quite a good deal. Plus he seems to know his way around a wrench so overhead should be pretty low

Fla, had buyer regret when I won the auction. Having driven almost 2,000 miles in the truck, I could not be happier with the buy.

All the issues are simple fixes. Had no idea this truck was super optioned. I like but don't care about things like a heated steering wheel, cooled seats, panoramic sunroof, even a power rear window. But I love all the towing features to include a light and a camera for hooking up a trailer, even Tps monitoring of the trailer tires.

This truck I suspect new today is about $115k out the door with tax and dealer markup. No way could I ever justify that purchase for a trailer hauler. This truck has 54k miles, one owner, never saw a trailer or a oil field. The interior is actually immaculate after a vacuum and a wipe down.

I budgeted $7500 to bring the interior back to original. I have revised my estimate for all parts for the truck to be 3-4k. Guys are paying 3k plus for black Chinese rims and Asian manufactured tires for these.

Truck will never be cosmetically perfect. But at 115k, it would be a full time job protecting the truck from scratches, etc. I can use this like a truck, yet have a interior so nice and beyond my wildest dreams. All with a clear title and pennies on the dollar.

Not trying to sound bravado on this, I was much more lucky than smart on this one. But blind squirrels sometimes find a pecan.

I failed to recognize Fla recommendation of putting in new batteries. I usually avoid any expense like that. I read FLA"s post that night, and was at Walmart at 0600 the next morning when they opened buying the two batteries. Having rock solid power to troubleshoot in a very time constrainted and hot environment, and in a lot that does not allow any working on vehicles, may have been the difference between flying home Friday evening, or being in Boise, with the truck without now. Thank you.

And if I flew home Friday night, Ford dealership would have been "fixing the truck" this upcoming week. I am sure what took me 2 minutes to diagnose and troubleshoot in their parking lot may have cost me thousands from the dealership.

BITOG is definitely a master mind club. Grateful for all.

Replacing those battery’s was money well spent. It’s well known among owners that the OEM batteries in these trucks are junk.

These are super nice trucks, glad to see it’s working out for you!

The thing that jumped out at me from the pictures was the misaligned doors on the passenger side. That could indicate major structural damage (frame). The other stuff you mentioned are just bolt on parts that can be sourced used.

But I love your spirit of adventure on these projects. I always follow them with anticipation.
Think it rolled over?

No, if I could describe the damage, I would compare it to two 14 year old teenage girls vandalizing/ ransacking a neighbors home. They will make a painful mess to clean up, but no big deal- just a lot of time to reverse the damage from the teenagers.

This truck mechanically appears tight, interior less two missing parts is near new, zero rust or collision damage. Just a whole lot of little things to clean up.
