C'mon Mike, don't leave us hanging!
Just a hasty update- could write for 30 minutes, but just woke up and want to get on the road.
Issues with the truck was the batteries were really in sorry shape (original), and the transmission linkage was disconnected at the trans so the truck could go into neutral to be towed. Cattle guard was pushed in, making opening the hood near impossible- in fact the hood is damaged from what I think was someone trying to open the hood after the cattle guard was pushed in.
The thing I needed was two batteries (size 65 $109 each from Wal-Mart), a 10mm socket/ wrench for the batteries, and most important a driveway marker (7.99 from Wal Mart), to push open the lever on the hood). If I knew all of this in advance, I could have had the truck out of their and on the road in 30 minutes instead of the 22 hours it took me to get her on the road. After arrival, I was kicked out of the auction house because they were closing, that cost me 14 plus hours. But that was ok, it gave me time to think.
Truck is actually super nice, but the exterior has a death of a thousand cuts. No frame damage, not a spec of rust. Original and only owner appears to have a very nicely paid IBEW union electrician in the Houston, TX area. I speculate he never towed with this truck. No fifth wheel or gooseneck, pull behind tow receiver looks untouched. Truck appears to have been fully "loaded", to included cooled seats and panoramic sunroof. Interior actually in very good shape less a layer of dust and dirt.
It was 100 plus degrees yesterday. Truck ran cool on the interstate. The only thing that is frustrating in all of this is both tail lights are broken. These LED lights at the dealership are over $1500 each. Used ones are super pricey. I found a guy in Arkansas selling a bed with the tail lights for a nice price, so I am going 400 plus miles out of my way for the bed/ taillights. Wish I could spend a week in Texas, I could find everything I need for the truck- this is definitely the super duty pickup truck for personal use capital of the USA.
Finally, I drove 250 miles Thursday night to get a set of tail lights. The guy no showed me. I wildly speculate he put out a "order" to have them stolen", and was not successful. 500 miles round trip for nothing.
Second picture is from the hotel parking lot this morning. Heading out to Bentonville at for the replacement bed.
