So how beneficial is milk?

The thing that bothers me about this topic is that, like so many other controversial subjects in this country, each side commissions its own "expert" studies and testimonials to support their own agenda, and the consumer is left saying "Huh?". For example: global warming, safety of vaccines and immunizations, artificial sweeteners, butter/margarine, and so on.

Or about 30%

I think we're both wrong. 50,000,000 can't consume dairy products. Estimated population population of the U.S.A. 309, 819,016, estimated undocumated 20,000,000 total estiamated population 329,819,016, gives a slightly larger percentage of 15%. Thats 15 folks out of every 100, far cry of 30%.

And believe me the undocumated drink milk, eat ice cream, cheese, ect., ect.

Are you sure?

I thought that they were statistically invisible since they were undocumented.

No other mammal cooks their food either. So should humans stop cooking in order to be like other mammals?

So you are asserting that breaded lard fried in corn oil is a healthful option.

Please provide evidence to that effect.

There's alot of mammals that feed their yound their monthers excrement for the first few weeks or months, I think its wise to pass on that also.

The blanket statement regarding no other mammal drinks their monthers milk past weaning sounds a little dumb now doesn't it?

If you're talking about pie crust, eaten in moderation, yup.

I don't post here much but I had to lol at this one.

We drink 1% and I have to say that in my formative years I didn't drink milk. As a result I have Osteoporosis. My daughter of 38 is in the same boat and for the same reason. Good luck Alien..I hope your Daughter is getting 1000 mg daily and more importantly the Vitamin D necessary to make it useful.

He's still in the unbreakable age. Give him time.

Funny how life ends up being a collection of managed (and often times conflicting) complications.

It's not that all cow milk products are bad.
Some yogurts and cheeses are good, and good for you.

BTW, there is a devious mislabeling/advertising/lie on many yogurt containers. It will say 'LIVE' cultures. But all this means is that they were ONCE alive - no guaranties... It has to say live and ACTIVE to be good for you. Watch for this.

I believe I once read about an English woman who was a wet nurse into her 70s. Apparently, as long as you keep nursing, you'll keep producing.

You are correct that Vitamin D is crucial to bone density, as is magnesium. Excess calcium is actually quite harmful, but adequate vitamin D intake should keep that in check. About 20 minutes of sunlight a day will do ya.

Strength training also increases bone density, as does avoidance of grain products, which seem to block vitamin D absorption.

The very thought is horrifying. Looks like I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight...again.

Apparently the record is 81.

Quote:
Dr Naomi Baumslag[8] noted legendary wet-nurse Judith Waterford: "In 1831, on her 81st birthday, she could still produce breast milk. In her prime she unfailingly produced two quarts (four pints or 2.3 litres) of breast milk a day."[6
