For my wife. She seems to ask about insurance more than our $5M+ investments (go figure). With the policy # (hidden below) she can easily read each policy at the respective web site or even ask THEM questions. I'm posting this for geezers so they can fill the wife in case of per-mature croakage. I don't see the value of life insurance, premiums get a little nuts over 65 years, although I know investment/estate/tax advisors say OK for big estates and such.

I should have done this sheet long ago for myself alone as we went paperless.

Yeah home and auto in WA state have gone NUTS.

Wow, good rates. Time to shop around.

Progressive is pretty stingy when it comes to auto insurance claims, they will consistently rip off anyone with a total loss and not even use certified aftermarket parts, when states laws don't specify. The reality is most ins cos do this already and the fight would be up to a competent body shop that can price match or negotiate well. For total losses one can always hire an independent appraiser.

Prices look good to me.
Impossible to know based on a persons location and insurance score. Obviously I assume yours is excellent.

I pay ultra low rates, Could care less who the insurance company is, low price wins all the time. My policies are more like a merry-go-round. *LOL* any increase in home, cars, bike, boat and it's off to the next company that I can find with a better price.

I think my record is cancelling a home insurance policy after into it for 9 months for another company with better rates. 50 YEARS I never needed to make a claim. So this worked well for me. 3 not my fault minor car accidents, other company paid.

AGE OF 17 unlicensed girl ran a stop sign into my van, around 1990 someone rear ended up on the Cross Bronx Exp. when traffic suddenly stopped, guy was towing an ocean racer plowed into the car behind me and then him into me.
Around 2010 stopped behind a school bus, a school teacher no less wasn't paying attention, saw the school bus start moving and accelerated into my rear bumper. (needed a new bumper cover)
Crap, I shouldn't be typing this... you know ... why ... and I am going to delete this part *LOL*

I don’t have an insurance spreadsheet but do send my wife an email at the beginning of each year with the name of each account and the balance so in the event I’m dead she knows where the money is hidden. I’m in my 40s.

I have something similar and I find it angers me in how much I pay for insurance and the rip off that it is. Those prices are low compared to NY. Wait until you turn 70 and the auto insurance companies beat you upside the head for age related increases.
Maybe that's why my EV insurance went up? Elder abuse! What's a poor boy to do?

The last 6 years Maryland went crazy on insurance rates...years prior it was so cheap it was a nothing burger 🍔
Now it's a expensive situation 🙃

A friend of mine had a similar experience with Progressive where they made him jump through hoops for a payout after he broadsided a deer at 70 mph on the highway. They offered him a very low total. He got a lawyer involved to make them pay the vehicle's worth. I had a different experience with Progressive in that they were very quick to payout the maximum. However, they were representing the person that hit me who had a BAC >2x the legal limit and charged with open container, driving with a suspended license, and fleeing the scene of an accident.

LOL Not what's "poor boy to do" it's what's a smart boy to do. [No insult intended!] I call this good luck and the results of me always asking a lot of questions. What I did was changed policies this year because The Hartford got greedy, my policy with them was due to renew 3/1/26. My wife turned 70 in early March, I canceled The Hartford and switched policies 2/27/26 before her birthday. I saved a small fortune and kicked the price increase down the road for 70 year old people for just about another year by doing that. The Hartford added in the age increase, the new company didn't. I asked the broker what it would have cost if her birthday was in January, it would have been higher but still cheaper than The Hartford. I'm not a fan of insurance companies, and shopping keeps them a bit more honest.

I have American Family Insurance through Costco. I do random cost comparisons and have had no luck beating them.

Your insurance costs are far lower than mine. Virginia is pretty high for Auto Insurance, higher still for homeowners (we are in hurricane country). In Virginia, I pay more than double what you do. Hard to know what you’re insuring for replacement on your house and contents to compare directly.

Orlando homeowners is lower, auto will be a bit higher, total will be similar.

Changing companies often results in lower rates for a year or two, then they raise it.

You’ve done well, there, “poor boy” - and good on you for continuing to check.

It’s my theory that all insurance companies, including USAA, treat you like a frog.

They know that you will jump if they throw you right into boiling water, but if they raise the temperature a degree at a time, they can keep you there until you’re boiling…

Deny Delay Defend. That's the play. Progressive is very good at low balling, among the best!
