OK 62. You look like 40. And I don't doubt at all what you and the weather service see. Not in the least. I just don't jump to conclusions with such a tiny amount of data.

We got one pathetically weak snow storm. It's a lousy year for jeep owners. We don't get much here anyway. There's some natural barrier that keeps anything falling in Al's area from reaching us ..we only get good storms from the south. Lousy hurricane year ..lousy snow year. If you get the right conditions in a higher than normal moisture year (ala hurricane activity during the hurricane season) then you might get lucky and have a decent blizzard. It causes havoc regardless of the severity. Even a few inches puts the Phila metro area in gridlock with the senseless fender benders.

Now the bad news. We lost a full sized flowering plum, uprooted and broken.

Lost a major branch on another full sized flowering plum.

Lost 1/2 of a medium maple, and 1/2 of an arborvitae.

The trees were not ready for the snow load.

I guess Investors Business Daily is now a trendy peer review journal for articles on climate change ? One needs the double secret password to login into that section ?

Special Report: Climate Change
Examining the state of the science on climate change

How can we cope with global warming and the challenges it poses? The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has just completed its fourth assessment of the science of climate change, its impacts and possible solutions. The panel of 2,500 scientists and other experts declared manmade warming "unequivocal" and wrote that it could lead to climate changes that are "abrupt and irreversible."

AAAS releases video and first board consensus statement on climate change

18 FEBRUARY -- The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) today released a new video as well as the first consensus statement of its board of directors regarding global climate change during a free public town hall meeting in San Francisco, California.

The town hall meeting, part of the 2007 AAAS Annual Meeting, was organized by AAAS in collaboration with three leading U.S. education organizations -- the California Science Teachers Association, the National Science Teachers Association, and the United Educators of San Francisco (representing the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers).

Reflecting a growing torrent of evidence, the AAAS Board statement confirms that "global climate change caused by human activities is occurring now, and it is a growing threat to society." Fossil-fuel burning and deforestation have contributed to an atmospheric carbon-dioxide level that is higher than it has been for at least 650,000 years. As a result, "the average temperature of the Earth is heading for levels not experienced for millions of years," the AAAS board concluded.

I don't think any passwords are needed for IBD editorials.

I love the feedback at Scientifc American.

And I am certainly not impressed by an organization that excludes opposing viewpoints, yet claims to be open minded.

Yeah, this sucks. Just be happy we'll have an outdoor baseball stadium in 2010...

It's the same argument made by creationists; it's a conspiracy, no one wants to know the real truth, apparently only 'we' have the intelligence to see things as they really are.

Science is fairly conservative, articles need to compete for space in published journals, and journals typically have groups of scientists who serve as the peer review for what does and doesn't get published. Science is very prgamatic, good science gets published, but sometimes only eventually.

I spent most of today hacking this stuff up....tired myself out....I didn't want to haul it away, so I cut the small stuff up really fine and put it in the yard waste bin.

Then I went to town on the large branches. Will use those for smoking (the plum) and burning in the fire ring.
