If your tired of having to clear the heavy snow at the EOD (End Of Driveway) remove the snow in the road that is in front of your house. If you have a snowblower... it's easy. If not just shovel the snow that will get pushed into your driveway from the plow (your side of the road). For some reason...people don't understand this.

You also have to clean the left hand corner of your driveway at least few feet so that the town blade will not have much to throw in your driveway

I remember doing this as a kid ... with a shovel. The county plow drove off the road and winged back everything to be sure to bury the end of our driveway.

This system might work for some roads and driveways, but not all.
I live on a fairly busy, rural 2-lane with lots of county plow traffic. They'll all vary how far they dig into the bank upstream of my driveway, thus varying the amount I get stuck with.

I've carved out into the road at times and never noticed a difference in how much I get when the next plow passes.

My mailbox is "upstream", snow wise, of my EOD and my blowing it out gives the plow edge a preemptive spot to dump its load before the EOD.

But I still have to snowblow it, so, mox nix?

This fluffy stuff from the insane cold is heaven for the machinery. I hope it disappears quickly as well.

IF and ONLY if the snow plow goes the right direction does this work. If he comes down the other side first and then on your side you're still getting a driveway full of snow.

I got 4 lanes plowed onto my driveway last week.. was fun.. I was at work.. got home and it was all refrozen from the drop in temps to 4F

I just left it like that and drove over it for a couple days till it melted.. was too hard to shovel or use the snowblower.

6-12" solid ice.

Oh and they were going so fast it sloshed right over the 3ft devil strip and buried the sidewalk 12" deep.

A couple of years ago the snow plow driver for the township had his own private plowing business. So he would not plow out the drive entrance or in front of the mailbox. The snow was very deep that year. So the next summer I built a mail box post that had a six foot pipe on it that I could extend. I just kept adjusting it out and sooner or later he had to clean the area.

It me a year to figure this out, but usually the plow is by before I get my driveway done anyways. I also push all the entrance snow to the right side now, as in past years I've built it up on the left side so high that the plow was just pushing the snow down the road to my driveway, instead of off the road.

I blow snow all the way from my driveway into halfway into the street, then I blow snow just upstream of my driveway in going with traffic direction. The plow has nothing to push when it comes to my area surrounding my drive way. It takes only a few extra minutes and saves me grief later when conditions change.

I always do this and for whatever reason the Snowplow driver gets UPSET.. In my opinion the guy has zero talent or knowledge driving a truck. LOL.

The ones who don't understand this are the ones who stand outside, looking up with their mouths open during the rain.
