I tried eliminating my truck and getting by with a Subaru Outback, but ended up buying my Frontier for hauling and towing. If a better trailer hitch were available for my BMW I might have bought a utility trailer instead.

Leather is a ripoff. If you really want to protect the seats from the kiddo get waterproof seat covers for the back.

And... I got 5% under invoice on my Frontier by going through the dealership's internet sales channel. And, yes, it's a basic model, but has AC, cruise, etc. $19,200 plus licence. I drive it easy and 24 MPG is easy to attain so long as I can minimize time spent in stop-and-go traffic.

No no. I am buying a house/closing in the next month. The truck is at least a year away. Figured I'd see what the prices are like on the small truck segment and was just taken back. I wouldn't finance or touch anything until we close on the property and let the money start accruing back into our accounts again.

OK, glad to know you're doing this in the most logical order.

I was really glad to have my Frontier when I was removing some small trees from my yard. The frame mounted receiver and a nice piece of chain does wonders when you leave 4-5' of tree above ground.

I liked my V8 2001 Dakota Quad Cab a lot, but in similar driving to what I do now I got 16 MPG. I go 50% farther on a gallon with the Frontier.

Leather was great with kids. But that was VW leather--I've read that each maker seemingly has different leather. I mean, the leather in my VW went 11yrs/314,000miles and seemed barely worn. YMMV.

All I'm going to say is, if you are expecting, see how much space there is for kid seats. Rear facing seats are massive. I actually don't think my full size truck would do well with rear facing seats--I have not checked, but it has narrow doors, leading me to think it would not work. On the flip side, the rear seat is much wider, and takes three people across in something approaching comfort.
