2024 Colorado ZR2 first impressions

The '08 GMC owned by my non-profit has a power sliding rear window. Since we have an animal cage in the bed it's really nice to be able to open it and talk to the critter. But obviously this is a VERY specific use case. (also useful when the wife locks me in the cage)

You guys live in a lot more hot sticky places than I do, so I would be the same!

I cannot reach mine in my Access Cab and it drives me bananas!! 🤪 🐵🍌
I wouldn't mind the power rear slider, but I usually have too much crap in the truck (my 9yr old girl brings things with her like school papers and leaves them... and I'm just messy anyways) that full-cab circulation just starts to blow stuff around and I'm afraid something is going to get sucked out lol.

And when looking for this truck, I took my time and specifically found one without a moonroof as well. Moonroofs are cool...and I just don't use them. I find that there's a window of like 7.4 degrees F where an open moonroof is good. So I was able to kind of save around $1500 that way in an otherwise expensive vehicle. I'm glad the option was there to not get it.

Hey hon, you cold back there? Gage says 10°F, I was thinking since this stretch is ice free, speeding up to 70mph.

And the last thing...man is this thing noisy. When you turn it off or on, there's all kinds of weird sounds that eminate from the dash, outside but not from the engine compartment, etc. I'm sure it's just doing modern day vehicle things and I haven't bothered to research what they might be, but half the time, I'm just like "what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is it doing?"
Our 2023 Mach-E is the same way. The electronic chimes can be excessive at times. It even has a shutdown tune that it plays when you turn it off using the on-off button. And if my daughter puts a doll that's big enough in the other back seat, it will warn that there is a passenger not wearing a seat belt, complete with audible chimes.

@thunderfog 1 month + in. How is the truck doing? More thoughts? I'm shopping....ahhahahahaha
Absolutely love it. No vehicle is perfect, right? This is the same. However, putting that aside, it's really really good. Just did a small road trip in it and it was super comfortable. The sig other liked it too. It's just so...solid.

Outside of the other stuff I have mentioned...I really have no place to put my phone. I don't always want to set it on that charger it comes with...the cord seems to work way better when I need it. Wonder if I can disable the charger somehow...not sure.

If you're *asking* me...do it lol. Feel free to PM me with other questions if you have them (or here for others to reference... I don't mind).

Exactly, being a native of the PNW, there are a lot more nice windows down days in the PNW in the summertime.

REALLY NICE, good luck with it. I love the clean looks of factory "souped up" trucks vs aftermarket. Did I say, REALLY NICE?
Thank you. It's been a blast to drive. About 4500mi on it so far with 2 short road trips in there, one about 200mi one way and the other about 150mi one way. Itching to get it off pavement, just no time yet...life gets in the way sometimes.

No mine is metallic green, short cab, short bed.

Perfect in every way, though the fender flares have lost a bit of paint like they all do.

Here's my 4.3

7500 mile update...

Not too much to add right now. Towed my -4200lb boat/trailer to the marina for the end of the boating season on a 90 mile drive, flat, highway. Did great, zero complaints. Helps you go through a trailer light check which is helpful if you're hooking up solo. Easy to monitor trans and engine oil temps which had no problem staying in normal ranges. But again, it was an easy drive.

Tow/haul mode is actually pretty nice for city driving without towing anything. Sometimes those modes hold the gears *too* long to drive everyday, but this one is actually pretty nice.

Combined MPG is right around 19. I've been able to really feather the accelerator on flat highway drives to get 26mpg but that takes a lot of work.

The very first transmission shift of the day from 1st to 2nd can be a little clunky, but that seems to be *normal* according to forums. I just take it easy, but I drive easy anyways until that oil temps comes up pretty good.

I have no idea what washer fluid comes from the factory, but it's the strongest smelling stuff ever.

Power is great. Step on it, it goes. No question.

I've done a couple oil changes. Easy peasy. Filter is in a good location, so it's not too difficult at all.

Drives great, feels solid and planted. No weird squeaks or rattles. Great, great driving experience for those looking for that. Highly recommend.

I love this truck. 9/10, only because nothing is a 10 lol.

@Pablo are you still in paralysis by analysis mode?

im enjoying my truck so far. 27xxx miles. oil changes every 5000 miles. plenty of power and good mpg, although the big tires tanked that lol. transmission could be better at low speeds when cold.

coming from a lowered fiesta st, this oil change is quite literally enjoyable and i look forward to doing it. filter is indeed in a good spot.

god dam, if you arent very intent on throttle input after driving away in the morning, the transmission will hang and bang. i can avoid the hang and bang (no, not a new gen-z slang lol) on throttle, but its luck of the draw when coming to the first stop sign. sometimes it bangs, sometimes it acts civilized.

Might be in the market for one of these soon. Glad to hear oil changes are easy.

What oil are you guys using in your 2.7’s?

I got pulled over last week. 66 in a 55. (The speedometer in my old Blazer is 3.5-ish off. Lol)

The guy liked my truck and we talked vehicles a bit. He has a Colorado of this vintage and has had nothing but “computer” issues. I was very disappointed in to hear this. He said it’s gone once the warranty is up.
