Grabbed a jug for 13.50 at Walmart. Use to run Castrol 10 years ago so thought I would try it again for no particular reason really. It runs great..no different than any of the other brands I've run. On the back it states it is GM and Ford approved with a serious of numbers following it, and not sure what that means. But it says nothing about Crysler. Any particular reason it is only those two companies they list? Any UOA and VOA's on this new formula?

I'm guessing you got the 5W-30 grade?

And if so, Chrysler is mentioned on the 5W-20, because the vast majority of their vehicles specify that grade.

Yep...I got the 5/30. So basically, the 5/30 is just fine for all other makes/models.

Off topic, but their new 5 quart jugs pour just as smooth as the Mobil. They designed it so that the air escapes while you are pouring it, and it doesn't interfere with the flow the way the pennzoil, Valvoline or many others do.

Yeah, unfortunately somebody in merchandising at the WalMart near here finally caught on that they had a whole endcap of Pennzoil YB marked at $12.50...I should have stocked up while I had the chance.

They were out of Valvoline 5W20. I debated between QS-GB and Castrol GT-X and finally settled on the Castrol.

Did your Castrol have a weird sediment like film in the bottom of the bottle? Almost like a greyish film?

I'm not really too worried about it. Just curious if that is normal in Castrol now.

I did not notice that or look for it. I did notice that their formula is much darker than it used to be which means nothing other than different additives they may be using. but what you say concerns me. I've never heard of this with PYB or some of the others. But how can you see the sediment at the bottom before you pour it? After I pourded it all there is is some residual oil left over that drained back down from the sides of the container

Hope a voa shows up on the sn with GTX, they BP, hammered the Edge pretty well. We need this web site to find out what has happened to our favorites.

Oh, it was after I poured it. I usually leave the 5qt container stuck in the oil fill upside down for a minute or two while I slide the change container back out and wipe down my tools...etc...

I just happened to look into the empty bottle afterwards to see, I guess how much was left...I don't know why, I just did. I saw that sediment-like layer and thought it was odd.

I'm not really worried about it. Just thought it was odd.

Does that happen to every old bottle of oil sitting around. I have some GTX SM conventional that I wan it to used in my mustang, but I was wondering if the additives will get stuck in the bottom.

Yeah, anytime you see a deal on a good oil like Penz, jump all over it! Especially if it's the mistake of the stores' pricing group. It's not steeling! Take advantage of their mistakes.

With all the new add. packs showing up IMHO we should hold off before we go to our favorite if we can, for a voa. Lots of weird things going on except profit remains still the same I am sure. Large profits LARGE!!!
