In England politicians and Royals are separate. In the U.S. all our politicians are Royals. Give credit to England here.

Harry is known to enjoy partying and indulging in many of the commonly available accoutrements to be found at parties of every description. Perhaps his choice of wife was to facilitate a business partnership in an industry expected to become legitimate in the UK in the next few years? Or perhaps his ability to order mail packages with diplomatic immunity prompted his choice of wife.

To each his own, whatever floats your boat etc etc etc.

My wife watched it. But she's not a fan of the bride. Thinks Harry could have done better. She has too much baggage.

Keen business folk with sports bars should have opened early and gone all out with a British theme. Some folks would have loved to dress up and watch it on TV over krimpets and baked beans with some Royal Guard types standing around. They'd pay good money for that.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

Nothing about the event enamors or intrigues me.

Though I do wish them happiness...... I never wish misery on anyone.

Wife was up at 3:30 this morning to watch. Me, I slept in.

I think you just won this thread!

My wife is taller, thinner and prettier than she is.

Arranged marriages for royal bloodline offspring I don't approve of. At least in the case, it doesn't look like gross inbreeding.

I watched a little. Quite the spectacle. I'm sure the local economy made out. I'm happy for the newly weds. Reminds me of the Kentucky Derby kinda sorta. What would you rather watch? A royal wedding or a media blitz on the latest school shooting or KJU waffling about de-nuking?

I didn't watch the wedding, but saw some pictures. They seemed to dress (relatively) simply for the event, not garish over-the-top.

This picture of Ms. Markle struck me in a good way:

She seems to have good values and good sense.
On a mildly humorous note, she has great taste in hats.

I wish them well.

Nailed it. And both events should be considered amusing fantasy.

It's no wonder colonists hold the royals with such disdain is it? Former oppressors and all. Reminds me of how some residing south of the Mason/Dixon line still feel about things.

"There's an ON-OFF switch on your TV set"-Jean Shepherd (the guy who wrote the stories for and narrated the famous "A Christmas Story" movie-the one with the rabbit suit and Red Ryder BB gun).

My first exposure to "Royal Anything" was a civilized argument between two English couples whilst staying in a Youth Hostel in Switzerland.
One couple supported the Royal family's existence (think 19th Century Americans revering George Washington) and the other detested them (think Jewish people hating Hitler).

Harry served as a helicopter pilot in the RAF, bet he could change oil.
Queen Elizabeth was a truck mechanic in the British military in WW 2

^^ this, x 1,000.
it seems that, outside of the English, and women, most have no interest in any royal family drek. the guys that talk about this stuff, if it happens to be in the news/newspapers, view the royals as parasites, living off of the taxpayer teat, for the last about 300 years.it's a good point, since they have had no relevance/use/reason to be for the last 300 years.
it makes sense that women love this stuff, as they want to princesses, from a very young age.
as I do every day, after waking up, I put on the t.v., to see the local weather.about 8:00, this was on, showing the royal couple getting into the royal carriage.they showed the queen, and she had a royal frowning/scowling look on her royal face.she had the same look, when she was in the back of the royal rolls, doing her signature royal goofy wave. that made me laugh. she likely almost went into royal cardiac arrest, when she heard of the engagement to a divorced American commoner.
the happiest are the suits of the companies that make the royal plates, royal mugs, royal t-shirts,royal books and other royal trinkets that target females.these suits must be salivating.how many tens of millions of these royal trinkets will be sold?
for the group, it's just more comedy.it was a fun 3 minutes for me, watching this.at the end of the day, it's just to each his own.

I didn't watch it. I got some sleep instead, and then headed out to the track here in Topeka, to pursue my hobby. And peruse Bitog of course..
