Purchased several UltraPower 57086 cartridge oil filters as part of a belated Christmas present for my daughter (I know…what a great dad, right?) for the 08 Volvo XC70 with about 190K miles on it. The filters showed up in a nice looking “SuperAuto” box. The filter cartridge and O-ring was packaged in a small ziplock bag to protect from moisture and debris…nice touch. Never heard of SuperAuto before, but looks like it is the house brand for a Canadian tire/lube/repair outfit by the same name. There’s even a oil change reminder sticker in the box with little check boxes for oil, air, cabin filter-woohoo!

The SuperAuto part number is OF5692X. The filter did not look anything like the picture on the RA site, which was OK by me because the filter looks/feels exactly like the MANN HU925/4Y, right down to the thin blue stripes on the inside filter pleats and the “plaid” white reinforcing material around the filter outlet. Photos below show the new filter/packaging next a used/oil soaked MANN filter that came off the XC70 several months ago. MANN filter COO was Mexico. Carefully peeling the Ultrapower sticker from the SuperAuto box reveals COO of China. Mann Hummel has manufacturing all over the world, so plausible that the Super Auto filter was made by MANN. On the RA site, the Purolator and Bosch Workshop filters also look similar to the MANN, so wondering if they are all the same.

Overall, very happy with this purchase based on what I am seeing so far. Considering buying more, hoping to get the same filters. For less than $2 each, I am pleased. Not sure why these were bought out by UltraPower. Defective packaging design? Funny thing is that if you look at the 14 small round automotive parts icons on the SuperAuto box, the picture of the car is upside down : ). Steering wheel looks upside down too. Bottom line is that sometimes those RA Wholesaler Closeout filters can be a good product for a low price.

The oil change sticker is nice :)
Indeed it is...I’ve never had one of those oil change stickers on any of our cars, so i might just go crazy (for 2021 at least) and put the sticker on my daughter’s car. What the heck... why not? She actually does the oil changes on her own car. I’ll sneak the sticker onto her windshield as a further belated Christmas present....

Bought 7 more of these Ultra power 57086 (MANN HU925’s?) for my daughter. A bit over $1.50 each plus shipping combined with other purchase was cheap for such nice filters. Enough for the next 5 years plus. The XC70 will like these filters!
