Howdy folks! Saturday I purchased a 2019 Nissan Titan XD with the 5.0L Cummins V8 diesel. This engine is noted for having catastrophic issues if the oil isn't regularly changed and a high quality product is not used.

Now onto the oil filter question:
There's very little in the way of quality filters for these engines. One member of the titanXD forums informed me that the larger filters designed for the bigger inline Cummins engines work on these, and he personally uses part # LF9028 Fleetguard filter. He has an email directly from Cummins stating that said filter should not cause issues with this engine. I have experience with Donaldson Blue filters which as far as I know make the best filtering claims out there (10 micron or larger particles). Does anyone know of a better filter than the donaldsons, or know if something like one of those sketchier looking Doc's filters are acceptable? A Bypass filter is not recommended by Cummins on these engines. From the same email, and I quote the rep: "We generally advise against stand-alone bypass filters on the lighter duty engines mostly due to the fact that there’s not much extra capacity for the oil pumps in those engines."
Thanks for having me, and thanks in advance for your time!
