Remove internal filter in favor of remote setup?

I just got my B&M remote transmission filter and external oil cooler setup in the mail, and I was wondering about the internal filter.

Has anyone actually removed this internal filter completly and just used an external filter? It would make sense due to being able to change the external one every 10k miles with a premium pureone filter, which also would exchange 1qt of fluid with it. However I assume you would have to gut the internal trans filter because some filter housings include the oil pickup.

ill be installing a filterMAG on the remote filter too.

The internal filter acts as a pickup, so I would not remove it.

Leave the OE filter in the trans.

Leave the stock filter alone.
Not only will it help catch small mammals , it is necessary for flow, being a pickup.

Why couldn't you install a remote filter before or after the oil cooler your putting in? On marine motors they use remote oil filters.

Well, most of us failed in totally reading your post since you already covered the pickup part with stating that one would merely gut the filter and leave it to function as a pickup (me too- I caught it 2nd round)

Don't do it. There's no reason to.
