If she is "that" smart, its on her to figure out that she must repay what she borrows, whoever her family is. Its not rocket science.Agree, but there is sometimes an element of predatory lending to the vulnerable. I know a gal who holds a PhD, maybe a double PhD, in a Social Science discipline. Her family offered no fiscal guidance when the loans were offered. A huge mess that hounded, perhaps crippled, her for many years. The worst part is, I am not sure she has learned her lesson.
Personal finance needs to be taught starting in grade school and continued through HS.
If she still hasn't learned her lesson by now, its a character flaw.
