Ran over what appeared to be a plastic splash shield out on the highway. Tried to avoid it but couldn't. I think I lucked out since there doesn't appear to be any damage. No odd noises, fluid drips or tire damage. Be careful out there folks.

Yeah, as I was coming into work at 4 today I almost hit someone's muffler strap. Luckily I stopped and picked up the rusty sucker, put in scrap pile we have. Be safe guys

While driving from DC to Colorado, I ran over some scrap lumber in Missouri. 8 hours later, in western KS, my TPMS light went on. Had to stop every 2 hours to air-up until I made Colo Spgs.

Largest thing I ran over was a entire deer carcass; I was going about 55mph and strattled it as to prevent a tire hit. I didn't get any 'air' but my echo certainly lifted up a bit.

It was pitch dark and I was boxed in so I couldn't move over.

Scary stuff to think how it could have ended up; there was no damage to the car.

I ran over a flat screen tv on the freeway with my Camry a couple months ago. No damage, but the joys of having a beater, I wasn't worried even if there was.

Came around a corner on motorcycle, saw something glint in the sunlight and swerved reflexedly. then stopped.

Three steel "safety" cables hanging down in the middle of the road. Looked like they were renewing some overhead power lines.

No one in sight. Lunchtime

Lunch is important in Taiwan.

Hit a 2-foot long chunk of concrete and etc (looked like a mailbox post yanked out of the ground) in the high speed lane of the Mass Pike, driving my dad's Escort on 13 inch tires.

Didn't break anything, and the car still tracked true.

It cracks me up when those splash shields are almost gone, and the driver oblivious. Like the ones that go the width of the car but are held on only with two plastic rivets on the passenger side.

When I had my motorcycle, I swerved around a banana peel in the middle of the road. I was expecting Wile E Coyote around the next corner.

Just drove through a Whitetail Buck this evening with the 06 Tacoma junked the front end front end parts everywhere.

Hope everyone is OK.

Came around the corner a few years ago on I-90 and had to dart around a huge square steel tube. Just in the second I had to see it, it looked like a semi-truck trailer leg. It was maybe 6x6" or something like that and several feet long.

yep just the truck taken out.

I have one good hit something on the road story.

Late at night on Rt 202 (if you know it) I was driving home with my brother in the Accord in my signature. I dodged a mattress and plowed into a box spring that landed on desolate a highway. It flew out of a F150, it just had happened. A motorcycle ahead of me pulled over behind the F150. I asked my brother to look under my car and check the tires out. I went up to the motorcycle driver and asked if he was ok. He said yes. He was busy taking his gear off. I said "I guess the stupid [censored] in the F150 didn't have enough common sense to strap that bed down" and I walked away up.

I gave the truck driver a hard time and then said I would like to get his insurance info incase my car had damage that I couldn't see in the dark. He informed me that the truck wasn't his and he didn't load it, was just driving it for the owner "my friend on the motorcycle, he's moving."

Now motorcycle guy walks up and is not happy with me or the situation in general. He's not sleeping on his bed tonight. He also isn't interested in giving up any insurance card so the conversation starts to escalate. My brother hears something brewing so he walks over. Me and the two other guys are arguing while all the items are still in the road about 50 yards back. I told truck driver to make himself useful and get bed and box spring out of the road before someone else hits it.

Seconds after I made the last remark I hear this awful noise. A couple year old Mercedes E350 hit the mattress dead on and it bunched up and got stuck under the car. I laughed so hard and said "better find that insurance card now!" They both ran to the other car. Then a cop going the other direction stopped. I got the insurance info I wanted and left. I did have a flat the next day but I did not bother to claim it. Plugs are cheap.

The road debris ran into me.

A plumbing fitting about 18" long (an elbow, 2 nipples and a tee) fell off a work truck. A passenger car directly in front of me caught it with his right rear tire. The fittings smashed into the right side of my wind shield. The work truck and car did not stop as I doubt they knew what happened.

I had the the wind shield replaced for $120.

I was lucky that day.

Headed to work one day. Going through a well-traveled intersection, I had to skirt around a hunk of metal. I thought "that's going to puncture somebody's gas tank". So I pulled over and moved the thing to the side of the road. It was one of those stabilizing feet you see on trucks with small cranes, or something like that. My good deed for the day.

Sounds like one of those anti-tank gizmos!

I once hit a truck tread bunched up on the highway. It looked like it was peeled (like a bananna) off of a tire. The tread was laying flat except one small section that was bunched up. I could not change lanes and did not see it until the car in front of me bolted to the right.

I straddled it with my Maxima but it still rubbed the bottom of the car. I made it to work and found:

One of the two front plastic shields under the radiator was ripped off.
A metal fin/scoop, used to direct air to cool the transmission, was bent completely back.

The car was fine other than that...replaced both parts later that week.

A semi I was following hit a deer one snowy night and drove right over it. I saw the rodent's carcass across the lane right in front of me but elected to drive over it instead of trying an drastic evasive move on a slippery road. The back legs of the rodent flipped up and dented a fender. No damage to the bottom of the car.
