thanks for sharing, unfortunately there is too much drama to finish reading the thread and find the true answer about PureOne

could you sum up the other thread and link in why its "the Absolute Best!"

That was a good thread. Bottom line ... PureOne = best bang for the buck.

"Purolator Synthetic Oil Filters are a long-lasting filter, providing engine protection for 10,000 miles."

Quote from manufacturer so the P1 should fall somewhere less than their premium filter.

I'd say the PureOne is good for 5,000 to 7,500 depending on how clean the engine is inside. Some people have ran PureOnes over 10~12K. I would recommend using a filter advertised for long OCIs if I was doing over 10K OCIs.

Only the FRAM Ultra (XG series) would actually be up there too. It's the best filter FRAM makes, and it's top tier up there with the others IMO.

The whole purpose of an oil filter is to clean its motor's oil. Engineers who play in this field will tell you the most "telling" feature of an oil filter is its Beta ratings. Most companies will NOT tell you, by phone, email, or threats, what their beta ratings are. Why? Why do you think?!

Their PureOne's web page states "3 months or 3,000 miles." Keep in mind, their extreme high efficiency and low price. However, they also state up to 13 grams of trash, which is quite a lot (unless you are driving through a southwest dust storm)!!

I believe this is for: 1) marketing - so you will buy more filters, and 2) having no control over where you are driving (see above) and the large number of idiots out there who have no clue about maintenance until something goes BOOM under the hood.

This is what the website say.

"Purolator PureONE oil filters should be replaced every 3,000 miles or 3 months depending on the driving conditions - or unless otherwise specified by the vehicle's manufacturer."

Wix posts individual oil filter beta ratings on their website. Baldwin will email individual oil filter beta ratings to you. That's why I use Wix and Baldwin oil filters.

I just bought two P1's at AAP for $10. Not a bad deal. I've always been a big fan of these filters too. Next change is coming up in a month. Gonna use the P1, and 4.5Qts of NAPA Synthetic 5w30. I never go 5k miles in 6 months, so I just maintain a OCI of twice a year.
