Pretty disappointed in Sonic

Millions of Americans wait in long lines every single day for really bad fast food. How sad is that. The senior leadership of fast-food chains will be jetting off to ski in Vail and the likes this Christmas in private jets with personal chefs- as a financial result of their leading an organization that sells nasty processed food.
Guy that worked for me had a brother who only had 4 Sonic franchises. Period - showed me pictures of his heavily modified 36’ Yellowfin with 3 x 350 Mercury O/B’s …

for da 'food' topic Sonic see the long thread on this style restaurant
(well, 'fast casual' is in there too) for mine & other of "our" impressions~

Amherst MA? After this post I weep for what the area I grew up in has become. Sad.

Sad commentary. What relevance are a long line and a CEO jet setting? Your military, your very own Chief has had the highest number of vacation days of ANY modern-day president. Relevance? I have no love for any CEO but they perform according to their contract and if that means Vail, so be it.

Commentary is there is huge financial rewards to selling a junk product in mass. Nothing more to read into it.

Had a wonderful dinner last night with my bride at a very small Italian restaurant in Lacey, WA. My Wife asked is there a shortage of chefs, why not more places like this. My response is there are massive amounts of great cook/ chefs in the USA. They just can't leave their desk job at XYZ corporation and open their own restaurant because they can't afford the health insurance premiums that sole proprietors are subject to.

BTW- if ever in the Olympia, WA area- check out this place. Not expensive, but reservations as must:

Sorry, I can't even say that is a...as that is a totally off-the-wall comparison.

Sorry, for some reason my post was not working....trying again.

Sorry, I can't even say that is an argument to the contrary. It's that weak. GE has CEO's that make massive salaries but to demean their product ad "junk" isn't quite fitting. THe list can go on and on. What car do you drive? That manufacturer has a CEO as well, no? Is your choice of vehicle "junk." Probably not.

The whole chef argument? I hope you are ok as that is a totally off-the-wall comparison.

Biscuit,

No comparison. Simply sharing a story. No chef argument- pointing out how the cost of healthcare may prevent some very talented people from being individual owner/operators of a restaurant.

I have no issue with anyone making all the money they desire. I posted that selling poor ingredient processed food to the masses is highly profitable. nothing more to read into than that. And for the record, my SIL works for Inspire Brands.

They would be more successful if they had a regular dine in fast restaurant like BK or MDC.

We have one here that I mentioned previously that is in a building that used to be a BK. They are dine-in. Haven't been there in a while (it's a good 15 miles from where I live), but their dining room was quite busy last time I went.

Sonic, it depends on the location. The one in my town is hit-or-miss. There is/was (?) a good one in Austin, TX on West Stassney that's very good.

Most every fast food place (except for Chik-Fil-A) in CA pretty much sucks in one way or another. Rarely will you find one with both good food and service. It's either one or the other.

There is one Taco Bell in my town that has great service, but the food is typically so-so.

Many restaurants are getting pretty bad but fast food joints in particular are not worth wasting my time on anymore. I went to a Popeye's Chicken the other day and waited over a half hour to get my order fulfilled, I don't blame the staff because there were only two people working and they were completely overwhelmed with orders. One person cooking and one person taking all the orders as well as getting all the food ready for said orders. I felt like garbage after eating that food because I think the food in fact is garbage.

Fast food is great if you like developing diabetes and other health issues.

Wouldn't eat at ours if the food was free. How hard is it to make good mexican food? Apparently very hard.

I really can't fathom how all these places stay in business. I travel all over the Southeast by car for work, and there are a million of them - and all are always busy. I have stopped a time or two, not expecting much at all, but they mostly are truly inedible. I'll get a coffee and a fries from McDonalds on occasion. The fries are extruded but they were in theory potatoes at one point.

Is there a reputable source for this info? As far as I know McDonalds still cuts their French fries with a high speed specialized machine. Extrusion is a completely different process.

I know a lady that was charged I think $2.99 for a cup of water at another restaurant a while back. When they were confronted with the charge she was told they charged $2.99 for the cup regardless of what drink you got. There's a Sonic about 1.5 miles from the house and even though it's not my favorite place to eat I do go there once in a while usually on Tuesday nights since they have 1/2 price cheeseburgers on Tuesday from 5-closing.

They taste extruded - no texture - so I assumed they were. If there not I apologize and defer to the experts. Based on taste and texture, if they are real potatoes they found a way to screw even that up :)
