Pretty disappointed in Sonic

My dumb self poked my straw right through the bottom of the foam cup. So I asked if I could get another cup and a refill.

Denied!

I realize it was my fault but any other restaurant would have not thought twice about getting me another cup and a refill.
So this is not your first unfortunate rodeo with a cup and straw. Word probably got around and they will deny the repeat offender another cup. ;)

Kira may remember a Sonic by us...Rt 9 Wappinger area. Went belly up a little before the plague. I never ate there. I had expectations of grease similar to a "Kennedy Fried Chicken" house. If you've been to Kennedy you 1. secure your wallet as you are in a bad neighborhood cuz! and 2. hope you don't outright die from clogged arteries half way through.

for da 'food' topic Sonic see the long thread on this style restaurant
(well, 'fast casual' is in there too) for mine & other of "our" impressions~

I’m not huge on Sonic. It’s one of two fast food places I could do without the other being Burger King lol. The only thing worth getting at Sonic is the root beer float. Their corn dogs aren’t the worst either. They just opened a new Sonic not too long ago we used to have about 5 here only three remain and that’s including the one that they just opened. I’ve never understood the draw to the place really. One of the things I absolutely can’t eat from them is the hotdogs something about them is just weird. I wonder if they still have the boneless wings? Those weren’t bad either but if I remember correctly they discontinued them. Plus they didn’t offer teriyaki at least not when we got them.

They bought out a fabulous Dog & Suds near me, converted it to Sonic, then closed it down in about a year. Now no more D&S...🥺

Sonic opened here a year or so ago and we tried their hamburgers and fries. Haven't been back since. The best burger in town is Runza, a homegrown chain. And their burger is just passable. How hard is it to make a good hamburger?

One opened in Madison to big fanfare maybe 10 years ago. They needed traffic cops there because the wait lines were backed out onto the main drag. Roller skate car hops and all. Long gone now, was bulldozed and suprisingly is now a big new NAPA store. Grease and oil, just served in different forms. Wish they would've sold out to In and Out...

The first Sonic in Massachusetts and maybe in New England opened about 15 or so years ago. Caused huge traffic problems and a line a mile long. I waited for all that to die down and tried it a couple weeks later. I don’t remember what I got but I’m sure it was some type of bacon cheeseburger. It was ok but nothing special. I went a couple more times, but haven’t been back in over a decade. I think it’s still open, but I don’t live in that area anymore.

I have been craving a corndog so we went to sonic. Pulled up to the kiosk and pushed the button. Nobody came out but it did say that they got the msg that we were there. Waited 20 minutes. Pushed again... nothing.

Went through the drive through. Got food that was pretty bland.

Not impressed with sonic at all. Boo
IME Sonic has always been a little bit "different" not always in a good way.

I'm not a fan of Sonic. I do like their Diet Cherry Limeade every once in a while though. Years back I got some kind of caramel shake they had featured, had to throw it away, it was like 1/4 caramel syrup and disgusting.

Other fast food that can pound sand is Burger King, Del Taco, Arby's, and El Pollo Loco.

It’s the same story that has befallen many other decent businesses. A business starts out good, decides to expand and eventually gets bought out by a corporate chain.

In the case of Sonic they were bought by Inspire Brands.

Inspire Brands also owns Jimmy John’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Arby’s, Mister Donut, Dunkin Donut, Baskin and Robbins and a few other names.

We have a sonic but it is drive thru only. I can’t understand how they remain in business…who waits in a line of cars for bad food?

Never been

YTH,

I stop at Ronza when driving through the great state of Nebraska on I80. About the best fast food on I80, but not wowed by Ronza food.

Millions of Americans wait in long lines every single day for really bad fast food. How sad is that. The senior leadership of fast-food chains will be jetting off to ski in Vail and the likes this Christmas in private jets with personal chefs- as a financial result of their leading an organization that sells nasty processed food.

The nearest Sonic took over a building that used to be a Burger King (which moved across the street). So they have a dining room. I'd have thought that the Sonics in the northern states like Wisconsin would have a dining room. But most do not.
