Well, it is really inside our thick domes! We've been gifted as having a keen awareness..... a more comprehensive intuition to sound. For some, it's limited ESP. For some others, it's broader. My ear doctor, who knows I suffer from moderate hearing loss in my right ear and mild loss in the left, says that I'm in an inclusive club that baffles professionals like him.

I sometimes hear things I shouldn't be hearing in various testing that he demonstrates. He refers to me as the 'weird fella' that embark on turning their research books 'upside down'.
 
my oci on the Pennzoil ultra was around 2k, was just louder valve train noise, as some oils it seems are louder in Subaru's,,and yes i do have a good ear for mechanical sounds .
