Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

A week or so ago, there was a bunch of oil in various brands on Wamart's website that was like $1 per 5 qt jug ... or was is ~$1 for a 3-pack of 5 qt jugs. Anyway, it was some ridiculous price and people jumped all over it all night long.

You are referring to the Great Oil Harvest 2021 Hurricane Walmart event.

It ended up being about 10 cents per quart delivered, plus or minus. It went on for days, short intervals as products ran dry, and most orders filled and shipped for most of the participants, leading me to believe it must have been an emergency Walmart warehouse clearance due to Hurricane Ida. Nearly every box I inspected (and I stopped at some point due to the numbers) arrived from the gulf region, Texas. Some orders were filled locally. But hundreds of FedEx delivered boxes to me were from TX.

It seemed intentional, since WM didn't really cancel many of the orders when it could have and orders shipped a week later in some cases. And WM showed a sense of humor, posting similar products for $10 million dollars thereafter. SO they obviously were aware of the situation.
Pointless to ask why but really curious as to how? is it even legal?
I am the law. LOL> I'm an American. Law. lol. For buying oil? Molon Labe.
Ended up with around 3000 qts, and I admittedly just stopped counting or inventory wasn't correct due to the overwhelming deliveries, as it became a part time job. I had to go buy industrial shelving to store it and ran out of space. An awesome problem to have, actually.

Somewhere around $300 investment, which will be break even or less after I sell/trade off a portion of it. Oil = cash in the bank.

It went on for like 2 weeks, I made my first order on August 22nd for Valvoline Maxlife SB 5W30 and my last on September 4th for Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W30, although I think the first reported error was 3-packs of Mobil 1 HM 5W30 on August 19th, Walmart first attempted to fix the problem by removing the 3 pack option, but then the 6 packs would glitch out, which is how I got the M1 HM on the 4th. They have now fixed the problem by removing all multipack options on oil.

Buddy can you spare a quart???

Snagged a couple Fram XG9688's for the wife's Elantra. Last 2 wire backed ones Wally had in stock.
The box indicates they are the new ones without the screen backing. Did you look down the center tube to verify the screen was there? Some of the old ones were coming in the new box.

Valvoline 5w-40 Premium Blue Extreme HDEO. It has the SN spec along with a bunch of diesel specs. As I understand it, this should be fine in engines that call for 5w-30. Where I work is running a special on it.

Question: My workplace (Advance Auto Parts) sells an all fleet or mixed fleet style of 15w-40 at a cheaper price than the 5w-40. If I am not mistaken, it shouldn't be an issue in engines that call for 5w-30 during the warmer months, but I'm worried that it would be an issue during the colder months where the oil will be thicker due to the lower temperature.

Im asking this because its also cheaper than 5w-30 synthetic oils of the same gallon size by a good bit.

Generally if it can turn over in the winter it's fine, but 15W in Wisconsin... Better make sure your battery is strong and maybe have a jumper pack on standby.

What's the story on the torco oil?

No real story. I just like how they have been doing business since 1950. I used their oils years ago before I started using Schaeffer's oil.

This next oil change,I'll be draining Torco's direct injection oil SX-8 and using the SR-1. They know what works for oil formulations.

I meant like what was the formula and whatnot. I briefly checked the sr1 and sr5 out last night. I think I'm putting the sr5 on my list of possible oils to run.

What if I thin it out with like 10% Marvel Mystery Oil? Would that help? I have a gallon of it sitting around that hasn't been used for a few months.

Bought 9 WIX 51516 oil filters for $5.25 each, free shipping on eBay. Should be enough for the next 6 years or so.
