Yeah the VG30/33 engines are tough on oil, doesn't matter though as stated, replace the T-Belt before 105k and you can go another 105k without a care in the world. Reminds me of the 4.0L Jeep Engine regarding reliability.
OCI 4K miles ,on maxlife currently..This engine only holds about 3.5 qts of oil..what you see in the picture is varnish and some hard carbon deposit. Currently have 192k miles burns a quart of oil every 4k miles and runs strong and does not smoke.
Gary Allan, I clicked on your pictures for the closer look, and got a virus warning after being redirected to the photo website. Thought you'd want to know.

This is not true as I have owned too many Nissan's to count. My engines NEVER looked like that. That was poor maintenance in that picture period.
Fill hole and dipstick and oil cap, 1984 Chevrolet Camaro 2.8l V6, (1)63,556 miles, at a lot, just getting back into regular service. oil changed less than 100 miles ago w valvoline 10W-30, filter too w Purolator. it "smokes on start-up" then runs perfect
