Really? Something must have changed in the K24 tuning on the CRV's. I've driven all generations except the newest ones and they're great vehicles - but glacially slow.My well maintained, barely broken in, K24W in my 2016 CRV EX just reached 43,000 miles and it's on its 5th OC of PUP. At 4,800 per year it's going to be a while before it gets into the high mileage club. It's nice to know that it has plenty of life left in it.
It idles smooth, but fully warmed up and in Sport mode, and it's looking for some open road or steep long hill to climb to show that it can deliver every one of the 185 horses it's rated for. It's like a sleeping sports car that somebody plopped a big box on top of it. Darn thing wants to get-up-and-go.
I wouldn't say the the K24 powered Elements or CRVs are glacially slow. Instead, I'd define their power as being "adequate". What I've noticed more than power is the brakes. With four people in our Element it takes noticeably more brake pedal pressure to slow the car (I use Honda OEM rotors and pads).Really? Something must have changed in the K24 tuning on the CRV's. Which also makes them great for the new drivers. You learn to leave some room to get to speed, not cut off others. The higher seating position, space all good. My son had a high mileage, hand me down '04 as his first vehicle. AC seized up needed repair so it was down for a bit and he got a Forte instead. Fixed the '04 and my daughter had it for a bit also learning on it until tranny went at like 270k. Ran great but needed something else. Sister handed down the high mileage '08. Daughter loves it everyday.Really? Something must have changed in the K24 tuning on the CRV's. I've driven all generations except the newest ones and they're great vehicles - but glacially slow.
It's probably just the transmission on the old ones. They just don't feel like they want to move. You have to really stick your foot in it to get it down shift once, I don't think I ever had my 2012 double downshift but I have a light foot.I wouldn't say the the K24 powered Elements or CRVs are glacially slow. Try a 2016 in Sport mode with the engine fully warmed up.Really? Something must have changed in the K24 tuning on the CRV's. I've driven all generations except the newest ones and they're great vehicles - but glacially slow.
