I'd like to see a UOA on that oil. And that poor oil filter that has how many miles on it?
That oil looks like road tar.
So do I - that's why I'm doing this long time experiment.I'd like to see a UOA on that oil. And that poor oil filter that has how many miles on it?
You haven't done a UOA yet? Waiting until it hits 200,000 miles? So do I - that's why I'm doing this long time experiment.
According to popular thinking, the motor should be long dead - but actually it's still running fine.
And yeah, the filter has the same miles.
So, you have the Mobil Clean not Mobil Super correct?Mine has been hanging out in my garage for about 5 or 6 years, I got it on rebate for about 6 or 7 bucks for a 5 quart jug, back before everything went through the roof. I have way more oil than I probably should, but it was all purchased on rebate. Sometimes I still wander down the oil aisle, then realize I've already got way more than I know what to do with
Yes sir, Mobil Clean 5,000 5W-30So, you have the Mobil Clean not Mobil Super correct?
I feel like I missed something could you elaborate a littleI'm waiting till the engine dies.
Than I do some forensics - UOA, filter dissection, taking the engine apart etc.
I just want to know (like in real world experience), how long you can go that way, before something bad happens,
and what exactly fails first.
My tiny dipstick again, for your viewing pleasure. 150 miles after ^that^ post.It ain't the size of your dipstick, it's how you work it.
Here is Dry VS Wet on 2002 Honda Reflex 250CC, liquid-cooled scooter. Oil is Mobil1 Racing 4T 10W-40, 900 miles on that fill. 28,571.4 miles on the scooter.

Thought you said the notch above the full cold top hole is the full hot level, which would make sense if the top hole is the cold full mark. What you need to do to verify, it check the oil stone cold in the morning. After driving and getting the oil fully hot, go back to the same level spot and check the oil hot 15 minutes after shutting off the engine. Then you know how much the oil level moves up on the dipstick from cold to hot.Looks like full up to the dot cold for me, maybe that's technically some low fractions if a quart overfull then since dot denotes max hot oil level...
I probably worded that a little confusingly, I had my oil filled to that level, supposed to indicating maximum when full hot, when cold.. so, let's get in-depth.Thought you said the notch above the full cold top hole is the full hot level, which would make sense if the top hole is the cold full mark.
