Oil on the whole dipstick when first shut down. '08 CRV

No waiting. Just un-do the cap - then pull dipstick a few seconds later.
No harm in trying this experiment. Ya' never know!
Pulled in to gas station. Popped hood, removed oil cap. Filled up vehicle with 8 gallons, not too long. Pulled dipstick, still very well covered along it in oil. Wiped it off and checked oil. Oil at normal level as it was last check.

Only difference this time was more oil along more parts of the dipstick. I will be changing probably this week as she now has about 5100 miles on the OCI.

Positive - I'm going to say residual cling MOFT. Where there is something keeping close contact the oil is staying there. This IMO would be good for all the gears, bearings, cylinders.

No matter the reason for the oil on the dipstick, I really admire your OCD on oil checks! If other people had your passion. There would be a lot more healthy vehicles on the road.

Well done sir

Sadly in todays world with MM, people leasing, no one to teach them, they're lucky if it gets done at that MM interval by probably most people. They just bring to dealer or quick lube when light comes on. Probably same reason that many places overinflate the tires at that time knowing they won't get checked unless the TPMS comes on.

I filled daughters CRV yesterday before she headed to concert in NJ with friends. She put on about 200 miles RT. I filled it again this morning as she headed way out east to go to beach with same friends. Quick check of all and away they went.

I filled up my Accord on Friday on way home from work (it had 1/2 tank) and did the normal checks per my routine. Son asks late Friday if he can take my car on Saturday morning to visit friend in MA, sure, no problem, it's full. My Accord is larger, smoother, quieter and better on MPG than his Forte. He did about 350 miles and it is just under 1/2 tank when I got in this morning. I do need to check how many miles since summer tires were put on, might be due for rotation.
