Post a great line from a song, the song's name, and the recording artist

All the late night bargains have been struck
Between the satin beaus and their belles
Prehistoric garbage trucks
Have the city to themselves
Echoes roars dinosaurs
They're all doing the monster mash
And most of the taxis, most of the whores
Are only taking calls for cash ...

Your Latest Trick - Dire Straits

UFO - " On With The Action "

But the minister's starin' with his Bible in his hand
Was this gods children , he didn't understand

Here is one for diehard BITOGer's:

"Well, he tried to be Standard
He tries to be Mobil
He tried living in a World
And in a Shell
There was this block-busted blonde
He loved her - free parts and labor
But she broke down and died
And threw all the rods he gave her"

Keep your mind on your drivin', keep your hands on the wheel, keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead, we're having fun, sitting in the back seat kissing and a-hugging with Fred

The song was Seven Little Girls Sitting In The Back Seat by Paul Evans. It went to number 9 on the charts in 1959. Cracks me up every time I hear it on the Sirius XM 50's station. Anyone remember that one ?

The days grow short, the nights are gone
Since you were here, I can't go on
I cried for you, to no avail
Now my life runs cold when the night winds wail
But I cheat the hangman,
cheated him many times before
The bell that tolls
the hour has turned sweet lips to sour
Yes, I cheat the hangman
and even when life has flown away
I leave a kiss behind

I Cheat the Hangman
The Doobie Brothers 75

It is the night, my body's weak
I'm on the run no time to sleep
I've got to ride, ride like the wind
to be free again
I was born the son of a lawless man
Always spoke my mind with a gun in my hand
Lived nine lives, gunned down ten
Gonna ride like the wind
And I've got a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind, ride like the wind
Accused and tried and told to hang
I was nowhere in sight when the church bells rang
And I've got such a long way to go
Make it to the border of Mexico

Ride like the Wind
Christopher Cross

As we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul.

If previously posted sorry. If I have to explain the above. You don't belong in this thread.

Crossing the line into the other side
Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes

Was it overlooked in front of all our faces?
Now, all the mistakes and secrets
Cannot be erased

Viewing the blind complexity
By which laws were justified
To erase simplicity

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

We are enslaved now...

UFO - " A Self Made Man " from Walk On Water L.P.. Whole album is worth a listen .

These 2 verses and more .

1st :
But if the very thought makes you shiver
I am just one of the many lost
And will change the course of the river
And never stop to count the cost

2nd:
I'm not uncouthed , but educated
Now isn't that scary thing
And elected to a place of power
Your slavery will be my sting

Let the revels begin, let the fires be started
We're dancing for the restless and the broken hearted...

Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young by "Ellen Aim and the Attackers", actually Holly Sherwood and Face 2 Face as "Fire, Inc."

You'll want a sound bar or some good speakers for this.

Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through, Jim Steinman's hymn to the power of music...one of the best lyrics ever starts at 3:23, another (one of the best lyrics ever written) at 4:08.

And yes, that's a teenage Angelina Jolie.

Jim Steinman is one of the 20th century's best lyricists. Another masterpiece, a duet with Meat Loaf and Cher...back and forth at 2:48 is great.

And yes, that's Linda Hamilton as one of Cher's group.

ANother Steinman masterpiece...the man he wrote it for couldn't do it live, he started crying.

My father's eyes were blank as he hit me again and again and again
I still believe he'd never let me leave
I had to run away alone...

Though the nightmare should be over
Some of the terrors are still intact...

Maybe the best description of PTSD ever.

And yes, that's Robert Patrick.
