Do you know what a 1911 is?

Yes, and a Pocketlite isn't one.

It is not even that similar, I mean it looks a little like a tiny 1911 and it is a single action semi automatic pistol but beyond that... The manual of arms is similar but not exactly the same.

Let us start with the obvious - No grip safety and the safety does not lock the slide. Less obvious - the trigger pivots on a pin, thus pretty much all the fire control is not the same and I don't mean smaller, I mean different. Disconnector and ejector - different. No link on the barrel, lockup is controlled by a slot in the lower lug (more like a hi power).

Little reading if you wish.

Colt Mustang Pocketlite Reviewed for M1911.ORG by Hunter Lee Elliott

I actually struggle with how anyone that is even a little familar with the two pistols could conclude that a Mustang is a 1911.

Of course "obviously" I'm not familiar with the 1911...

All I will say about carry guns is this: I DESPISE the 1911 platform. I also DESPISE anything made by Kahr. Smith and Wesson makes a good gun. So does Glock. So does Ruger.

MY LCP has north of 2000 rounds fired. About 12-15 different types of ammo and it has not hiccuped or jammed even 1 time. It's a solid, refined over the years design, and they are reliable. They are also tiny so you can carry it every single day when you can't carry something larger.

Glock 42 is a great pistol. I can pocket carry it in most of my shorts. I wear cargo shorts 365 days of the year. Your mileage may vary.

You would need cargo shorts to pocket carry the 42. Glock makes awesome guns I can't for the life of me figure out why they had to make their minis bigger than everyone else's.

I can easily (and do) carry a 9 for the size of the 42.

If size is not a primary concern they are awesome shooters and a great choice.

I NEED A GENERAL PURPOSE PROTECTION PISTOL. I WILL TRY A LOCAL RANGE SOMETIMES, NOT AN OFTEN TIME THING. I DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER WEAPONS AT THE MOMENT, AND CAN'T AFFORD TO COLLECT. I AM THINKING ABOUT THE RUGER 380 LCP OR PERHAPS A 9MM. MY RIGHT ARM (i AM RIGHT HANDED) IS STILL A LITTLE WEAK AFTER A STROKE, BUT DEFINITELY USEABLE. SO HEAVY RECOIL AS COLT 1911 IS NOT GOOD. ANY RELIABLE 9MM NOT TOO EXPENSIVE OR SUPER BIG AS ALTERNATIVE TO THE RUGER 380?? NOT TRYING TO START A FLAME WAR. RELIABILITY, COST, AMMO COST ARE CONCERNS. DOES NOT HAVE TO FIT IN SMALLEST POSSIBLE SPOT. THANKS!

Ruger LCP Custom is a good inexpensive buy John. Look for it's red trigger in stores, or order one online. If you can spare another 100 bucks or so, the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield in 9mm. It's also a little bigger than the LCP.

Need help finding any cheap...... PM me.

bmwjphn - I would suggest going to a range a few times and renting different guns to try. If your arm is weak, the LCP might be a bit hard to control. A slightly heavier pistol could work to your advantage. Also, 9mm ammunition is a bit cheaper than .380.

I like my LCP for concealability, but prefer to shoot my Taurus PT111 G2 9mm. The G2 is larger, but can be concealed carried easily and has some other features I like.
