Pick my next fuel cleaner.

It's almost time for my yearly dose of fuel system cleaner. I have a $5 O'Reily gift card for some reason that I cannot remember right now, so I'll be going there to pick up something. I'm normally a Techron Concentrate or a Gumout Regane kind of guy, but I'm going to let BITOG settle this one for me. My closest OR has:

Assorted Valvoline and STP cleaners.
Chevron Proguard $7.99
Gumout Regane $6.99
Gumout Regane HM $8.99
Redline SL-1 $11.99

I'm hoping Redline wins, as I've never tried it before...but it is up to you.

If the Redline is what you want, give it a shot.

The thinking on BITOG is to rotate through a different one each time to take advantage of their slightly different chemistries.

I'd probably use that due to availability. but redline is probably better imo due to UCL

I usually just wait for BOGO on the good chevron and call it a day.

Either wait for the BOGO on Techron Concentrate or go RL. I switch between both but RL is one of the best out there IMO.

I like the techron concentrate at about 30% pea for under three bucks (when on sale around here, Farm and Fleet usually has 2.50 a few times a year). The pro-gard does not have the same level of pea. I think regane is about that same level and I didn't think the RedLine was wildly better (which to me would be 50% +).

I have never seen Techron that cheap. I have seen them BOGO at AZ a few times but it's 7.99 for the 12 oz. and 12.99 for the 20 oz.
I would use RL if I were trying to cure a problem because I feel it's got the most PEA. If you are just doing PM the Regane is the best value, IMO (under $5 at Walmart)

Butt dyno tells me redline feels better. It's not like I am trying to will myself into thinking Redline feels better because of some preference to the brand, Techron's always on BOGO and is much cheaper in comparison and I'd prefer if it worked better.

REDLINE. Especially since you only do yearly treatments. Use the whole bottle (as it says on the label) for a fast clean up.

My vote is for Redline first

I have a little 4x4 Toyota Truck that I'll use to run around town a little and during the hunting season I'll use it hunting and it has the little 22RE engine in it. It has always run good but at idle my RPM gauge jumped around a little and its idle was ever so slightly off. Last week I used the Redline, dumped it in, filled it up and drove it about 25 miles. I left town and came home on Sunday and drove it to Denver and back which is about 100 mile round trip. It runs and idles like a dream now! Seriously, its the first additive I have ever used that I had such a quantifiable difference in performance.

The Regane HM is cheaper and I will use it next but I wanted to try the Redline first because of all the positive things I had read

Gumout All-In-One is the best value for money at non discounted prices. Same PEA% as Regane. Treats 35 gallons instead of 21 gallons.

I picked up the older non concentrated version for $3 or $4 from Big Lots.

In my experience, non top tier fuel is 20c a gallon on average more expensive than top tier. So over 6000 miles, that would be $48 more on top tier at 25mpg. Gumout All-In-One covers me for 6000 miles for $4.

Of course, if your top tier fuel is the same price as non top tier, then the better strategy is to use a PEA cleaner once or twice to get things clean, and then maintain with top tier fuel only.
