Thanks...I’ve seen both the black and blue adbv on the extra guard. If I get the chance I’ll grab them and cut them open

That’s exactly what happened.OT Just noticed your pic attachment shows a TG box with the orange can. 'If' you pulled the orange can out of that box, sadly that would be a WM switcheroo (low life move).![]()
Still a dumb move.Got another email from Fram tech and yes the black is silicone and they will be going to black from now on....Orange ones were made previous and will be replaced with black silicone as they sell out...
Not really.. It might on this site but if you read the box it does say silicone on it....Fram will continue to do just fine....There are a lot of Fram haters on this site for many many and many years so you will never please them... O well...Still a dumb move.
I deal in seals and if I change the color of any because I get bored the masses freak like I switched materials...creates nothing but stupidity so I no longer do that.
Fram is batting zero right now.
They had it all sewed up and now they are blowing it.
This coming from a fanboy.
I think they are trying to be slick to be honest. Not really.. It might on this site but if you read the box it does say silicone on it....Fram will continue to do just fine....There are a lot of Fram haters on this site for many many and many years so you will never please them... O well...
or the black one is a cheaper to make....vs orange...I think they are trying to be slick to be honest.
The masses now assume all red or orange adbv's meant silicone...or the black one is a cheaper to make....vs orange...
Was thinking the same, could be an RP one, lol^^^ Almost looks purple in the photo. All the filters are cross-breading, lol.
^thisMy best guess is its a supply chain issue.
Supplier makes whatever color a company wants in good times, but in tight times asks them to take whatever they have more of.
Because the color is really an irrelevant specification - not technical in nature at least.
I'd have a harder time believing they accepted a different material altogether, but I wouldn't put it past them.
The local Walmart is decimated, I was looking for Castrol Edge Euro 5W-30. I pulled a random Fram off the shelf and not only was this switched but the ADBV is blue.
But who was ordering black silicone ADBV's before? I understand purple because the RP ones are purple, so they may have more of those kicking around, but black has historically been nitrile and the supplier (typically Parker) would be producing the red/orange ones in silicone almost exclusively. My best guess is its a supply chain issue.

Again a guess - but I would think the suppliers have sheets of silicone produced and then do some form of compression/heat molding to make the ABDVs.But who was ordering black silicone ADBV's before?
