Yeah you pay 10 bucks to have it shipped. Why would I want to do that when I can get competitive 5W-40 at the local parts store?

For starters, you don't know what's competitive and what isn't because you haven't tested them all.

The first post on page 1 asks if this oil is available to purchase in the U.S.

I have yet to see the oil for sale in a store I can walk into. Has anybody seen it for sale in a store?

Have you been to your local Ferrari dealer? I bet they have it in the parts department.

Oh well, screw it. I'm not begging to try this oil anymore. SOPUS is obviously disorganized judging by there ridiculous marketing and lack of availability of products. I'm converting the rest of what I own and maintain to XOM products.

Amazing how bent-out-of-shape people get over over being over promised and under delivered.

Johnny,

I like you as a fellow BITOG member and all, but you're a retired SOPUS company guy. They failed.

Evidently you do not either read or pay attention to my post. I have said multiple times that Shell does a lousy job of marketing their PCMO line-up to the retail trade.

And actually I am a retired Pennzoil guy that just happened to be working for Shell for a short time after they bought the Pennzoil-Quaker State Company. The old Pennzoil company would not have had this problem.

Instead of everyone complaining on this board about something you cannot fix, speak with your $$$ and buy something else. That is darn sure what I would do. As a matter of fact, that is exactly what I am doing.

I'm just vocalizing my frustration with SOPUS. I am also speaking with my $$$. We as members can complain about a product or company just like we can recommend one. It's a two way street. I hope you don't hold it against me.

Not at all. Complain away. And I might say, the oil that your signature states that you are using in your Dodge is an excellent product. I highly recommend it to anyone that needs a xxW-40 oil. I'm sure the Ultra 5W-40 would work just as well, but since it is not readily available, to heck with them.

One of the most powerful things a consumer can do is to vote with their $$$. Again, I love Shell, the company, and I'd love to buy and try some Helix/Ultra, but they aren't making it easy. With other options in the 5W-40 market, they are screwing themselves. I'm sure the domestic Euro marketing guy is loving this thread,...kinda leaves that throw-up taste in your mouth.

I know where you're coming from. Sometimes price isn't even the issue, availability is. There is no PU here yet, let alone Euro spec. If one wants Euro spec, the easiest to get is RP or GC. I haven't spotted M1 0w-40 around lately, but it's hard to say - the Walmart Mobil 1 section was picked clean last time I was there.

Today, it was time to change the oil on the little 96 BMW, I did get my free case from Debbie a long time ago (THANKS!) but I did not have the heart to pour that fine oil into my 214k miles mostly on dino M44 engine.

So, out drained the Delvac CJ4 15w-40, in went the MC CJ4 15w-40 @ $ 12 bucks for 5 quarts. A top off with some left over Delvac and the car is as smooth as ever.

Good move.

Ironically, when/if my 5w-40 comes, I'm buying a jug of 5w-30 and 10w-30 Ultra to go with it, as I like to use the same oil for a whole year (one filter).
