Pennzoil/Quaker State Conv. NOT API certified

Discovered today when going to O'reilly's to pick up a couple filters for some customers cars, that I just so happened to see out of the corner of my eye, NO API starburst on either the Pennzoil or Quaker State conventionals..

Either one I have/would never use due to high amounts of paraffin and also the sludge they cause, but was surprised...

Forgot to take a pic but most of y'all can just go look..

Thought I should pass it on!!

Do you really believe that, or are you just joking in gest.
If you do believe that parafin myth please take some time here going over the vast amount of information as to the QUALITY of Pennzoil products.

I picture of the bottle would clear this up quickly. I have five bottles of Pennzoil conventional at home and they DO have the API starburst symbol on them. Here is a picture, courtesy of Advance Auto Parts' website, that clearly shows the API starburst symbol on the Pennzoil jug:

Again, if you can post a picture of what you are seeing, it would clear this right up.

Even back in the day Pennzoil didn't cause sludge as long as it was changed regularly, I used it through the '70s without issues...

I thought GTX caused sludge.

I recommend you do some research on base oils and API certified oils before you post some hooey like this.

I'm guessing that you're unaware that natural gas is a paraffin.

Obviously an employee for BP or Conoco/Phillips....PYB is one of the best cleaners of any of the conventional oils....Pennzoil Ultra is probably THE best oil.Nothing wrong with SOPUS products,its the OTHER guys stuff I would worry about.

The OP knows plenty about oil.

Maybe he was waiting for someone to say the oil he spotted was likely the "High Mileage" variety many of which (in typ ILSAC grades) do not display the current API CertBurst.

A Good conventional oil base IS a liquid paraffin (ALKANE).
