Picked up another Foxbody Mustang

Ok so my Fox bug just keeps biting Now there’s two cars I’ve always wanted, a 4 Eye 85/86 Notchback and an 03/04 Cobra so this one was definitely a must have for me. It has the best of both worlds The body I love most and a Terminator drivetrain with a few upgrades making 530 WHP. Although the PO said he just changed the oil with Royal Purple 5w20 recently, I’d still like to get my own stuff in there soon. Few Q’s for y’all.
-Didn’t Ford recommend going back to 5w30 vs. 5w20 in a lot of the newer cars?
-What would full syn would y’all run?
-What tranny fluid would you run in the Tremec T56?
-Is Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 still one of the best out there?

I’d run a 5w30 of your preferred flavor in that vintage of car. I’m not a QS fan but if that fits your fancy run it.

So this is a termi-swapped fox?

Given that the Modular originally spec'd 5w-30, and this one is forced induction, yeah, I'd go with a 5w-30 or even M1 0w-40.

Ive run 5W30 in my car forever and its hasnt blown up. Doesnt use any oil.

1. Grade depends on oil temps, oil pressure, weather conditions, and mods. I guess 5w20 is ok if it is driven like a 4 cyl Camry.
2. Brand irrelevant. Grade more important. Need more info!
3. Probably not this stuff: https://www.tremec.com/not_am_detalle/mp-mtf-transmission-fluid/ Valvoline MT or RoyalPurple Synchromax
4. Was it ever? Still don't know if 5w30 is your best choice. If it was, I'd grab Amsoil, HPL, RedLine, RP HPS... 1st.

I’ll probably be cruising this only 2-3 times a month. I’m in northern California. It does get hot here during summers for sure!

This is a clean and straight 1988 gt with a tko500 tremec and 4.10s, etc. Needs paint. Porno red interior.
