I could be wrong, but I think this whole mess of a thread is Valvoline's fault... it looks to me like they made a mistake by putting the starburst on the front of their 10W-40, and hopefully they have fixed the issue : )
IMO, there is a BITOG lesson to be learned here as well... Sometimes manufacturers make mistakes, so we need to be careful quoting every published specification and every product label as absolute gospel.
