I've got an 01 Frontier 3.3L Supercharged which holds a meager 4 quarts including filter.

I'd like to find a larger filter that will add some capacity to this small sump.

Stock filter is the x7317 (for the fram, STP, supertech reference), or Napa #1356.

This is the filter that goes in anything from Honda, Acura, Mitsu, Plymouth and Eagle DSM's, Nissan, and most other imports. For a V6 the filter is tiny, even smaller than a P3614 or 3387A.

Any ideas?

I just ran your NAPA number 1356 through the Baldwin catalog and it gives B1402:

PART NUMBER: B1402
Descriptions: Microlite Lube Spin-on
Contains:
Anti-Drainback Valve
14 PSI By-Pass Valve
Fits:
Dodge, Eagle, Ford, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Plymouth Automotive
Replaces: Chrysler MD135737; Ford F32Z-6731-A; Mazda JEYO-14-302; Nissan 15208-31U00
Thread: M20 x 1.5
O.D.: 2 21/32 (67.5)
Length: 3 1/2 (88.9)
I.Gskt: [1] Included
Related to:
B1400 (Short Version)
B1431 (Long Version), which is 4 inches long, same diameter.

I would think you want something a bit longer than that. I will look in my Wix hard copy catalog tonight and see what they have.

Another idea, besides a larger filter, is that with the supercharger and the small sump, if you drive very many miles, this is an ideal situation for Redline Oil. Redline will take more heat than most any other oil. Redline alone will compensate for the smaller sump. It is expensive, though, at about $8 to $9 a quart, but if you can run it for better than 10,000 miles in one year it would be worth it.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, do you have room for a wider filter?

Wix Fram:
51334 ph3593a
51344 ph3807
51347 ph2849a

If filter clearance(the last 3.3 I worked on refused bigger filters) is an issue, your best bet for increased oil capacity is a remotely mounted full flow filter(s).

Only Wix application that is longer (4.8 inches) and has approximately the same gasket size is the 51318, but it is 3.7 inches wide.
