I've never saved a receipt. Never felt a need. Guess I should start...Although, I like the eeling of picking a new oil each time.

Yes,lets us freak out,buy cases upon cases of oil

For real though, nothing wrong with stockin up if you find oil on sale, but dont go overboard.

I'd much rather put that money to use in a place where I can get a return for my investment.

For example, rather than purchase a "stockpile" of oil that does absolutely nothing for me, back in March I purchased 5 thousand shares of Ford at around $2. I sold half of them earlier this month for about $5.50. That'll pay for a nice trip to Italy this summer.

You may regret selling Ford at 5.50 when it hits 15.00 in 2010 or 2011 as I think it will.

Better to stick and energy mutual fund (TR PRICE "NEW ERA")in your 401k and build protection that way. When I drive up to get fuel and the price is up, I make a little money?

Its no surprise oil/gas prices are going up again because the supreme socialist wants prices to go up so we have to buy his econo cars and start using less energy. I heard someone say on youtube the other day that by the time he gets out the country will look like mad max only will all be driving econo cars. I think I'm going to have to agree with that statement.

So you would rather keep transferring this nation's wealth to the middle east?

To properly hoard, you have to get in at the bottom, not panic in the middle of an upswing. As we saw in Tennessee last fall a shortage of gasoline is the real thing to worry about-- going another 500 miles on an OCI can solve a motor oil shortage crisis. So having 5 gals stabilized gas on hand is a

move... especially if it helps you escape a hurricane or run a generator.

We do that anyway whether its buying middle east oil or giving 10 million dollars a day to Israel.

Yeah, my friends laughed when I paid just over $2 qt for 200+ quarts of PP in 2007...they aren't laughing any more.

How did you manage 200+ quarts on discount? Do you have a lot of addresses at your disposal for rebate checks?

I've got 105 quarts of synthetic oil. Stocking up is wise, but I still think we have mental problems. I'm 99% sure I do.

I would like to know which companies on Wall Street that received government bailout money are speculating on the oil futures market. That would make good political fodder.

Have you noticed that the investment banks which took government money are practically desperate to pay it back? The government might even make money selling off the parts of AIG.

But the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? That money is gone forever, those quasi-government agencies have simply wasted hundreds of billions of dollars, and paid huge bonuses to people that Barack Obama still has on his advisory team.

And the money "loaned" to Chrysler and GM is gone forever.

My point: "Wall Street" was never the enemy. It made a convenient fall-guy for the economic collapse, but the biggest banks were the biggest victims of a real estate Ponzi scheme promoted by the Congress of the United States.. and aided and abetted by the Federal Reserve. But Congress is to blame for pressuring lenders to give mortgages to people who could not pay back the money.

Me too...but I have had mental issues long before this latest oil craze.
