I believe Amsoil paid out a claim a few years ago. I'm sure their oil wasn't to blame but they paid anyway, maybe for marketing purposes. Who knows. As long as OCI is done by the manufacturers requirements I don't believe oil is ever to blame for engine failure.
I know they had problems with their 100 to 1 two stroke oil about 10 years ago. The stuff had to be vigorously agitated/mixed or it wouldn't work.
I tried it on my 110 hp outboard but mixed it in a clear fuel bottle before adding it to the main tank and noticed it did not mix throughly, so I had to shake the container until all the oil mixed. If I had not mixed it first in another container and just poured the oil into he tank then filled with gas, I could have destroyed my engine. Once the oil was mixed, it worked great, but it wasn't worth the hassle.
