I drive a 1990 nissan 240sx it has a stock ka24e and has 138k miles on it which oil is the best choice for me? i am currently using rotella 15w-40 and it seems to be working real well. Just curious on what you all would recommend for me. I do use the car for drifting and such on occassion if that matters.

That's an absolutely fine choice; many in the 240SX community use the T6/5w-40 version of Rotella, but there's nothing inherently wrong with your selection (assuming it doesn't get that cold where you're located).

Good luck drifting in that single cam in anything but the rain!

I'd keep using the cheapest 15w40 you can in there. Is your timing chain making any noise?

The SOHC KAs are fine with Mikunis and inside of a 510!

Truthfully though, they are fine motors but need just a hair more power for something like drifting in an s13.

The KA24DE in my 97 Altima ran really well on Mobil Super 10w30. If you prefer the HDEO to an SN, maybe Delvac 1300 Super 10w30 or Rotella T5 10w30.

I'd rather have a dual cam but the motor runs and that's better than one that isn't running.

What are your typically oil temps? What's the oem recommendation.
I'd start thin then thicken it as required based on consumption.
As thin as possible,as thick as necessary right.

Ka24de-T is a very potent low cost build if you don't want to foot the bill for the RB. Being the under dog is never a bad thing

Just use what ever API Sm/Sn oil you can find on sale and enjoy the car.
