Why not use Valvoline R&P as the "forever oil"?

In some cases it might be that we just don’t know if it is formulated to go much beyond about 6k, so if someone wants to do a bit longer intervals then there is a big question mark here.
A question mark that should be answered in due time as the UOAs come in.

I'm still unsure about ODIs for my three vehicles. All I know is that trusting the OLM was unwise. I placed too much faith in the absence of oil consumption and should have minded the cleanliness more.

I'm guessing my GX460 is actually pretty clean inside. I believe the prior owner has the Lexus dealer use whatever synthetic they offered (based on the online maintenance history Lexus maintains). The HPL that's in there now has about 5k on it and honestly has barely changed color. If it's cleaning, there's very little cleaning actually happening. And since we know HPL cleans pretty well, I have to conclude there's just not much to clean up inside there. (Perhaps it helps that the GX holds 8 qts).

My Odyssey is about 1/3rd through its second VRP run. I've posted elsewhere the visual results.

My thoughts as well.
I feel like if you don’t need it then you don’t need it. All oils can’t be all things so use it when you need to but then go to a better oil for protection. Of course I’m in the “fresh is the best” crowd where I just feel better knowing I’m always running relatively new oil.
