This car just did a 1,200 mile road trip across 5 states, running 87 octane pump gas!

The advent of modern turbocharging technology is simply amazing - these cars can be more docile then a cammed out hotrod, yet are some of the quickest drag cars on the planet. Modern turbochargers are amazing things.

It's true, modern turbos, computers, etc can do amazing things. You see it in production cars and hotrods.

If you have to ask the price you can't afford it.

I bet that guy has a minimum 100 grand in that car, and most likely a LOT more. Heck, just the time and resources alone to tune it cost probably $20,000 bucks.

Tom Nelson at Nelson racing charges $49,000 for an engine that is comparable to what Larry Larson has.

If you watch the first video from this years drag week, that was noted in the tech inspection. The inspector said something to the affect that he can build a 2,000 hp engine but can't get the parking light to work!

There is a big difference between being "quick" and being "fast." I'll take the Bugatti Veyron for "fastest" street car.

Not in a quarter mile drag race! A Veyron for example runs mid 10s at about 135 mph.

If you take this same engine technology and put it in a car meant more for top speed and grand touring, it owns anything on the road. Tom Nelson has already done it with a Mosler at over 270 mph.

Plus, if you let Larry Nelsons car accelerate past a 1/4 mile and with the right gearing, it would go WAY faster then 209 mph.

Show me any street legal car that can go over 1,000 miles on public roads, not overheat, and run 209 mph in the quarter mile.

Unreal what they are doing now! I'm starting to pitch a tent after watching that!

I've been a gearhead all my life. I know now what I want to do with my life. I love to weld, plumb hard lines, fabricate, wire, and turn wrenches. All things I've done in previous jobs. If I could combine them all in one job and build or have a hand in building cars like this, I know I'd be in heaven.

That thing is bad [censored]! Very nice MPH!!

But honestly, that thing is a street car by technicality only. There's a whole buncha 6sec tubbed out, Fred Flintstone slick'ed dragsters out there driving to tracks and home. It's the turns and bumps that get in the way

Prove it

The beloved Veyron doesn't trap in a standing mile what this car traps in the 1/4 mile.

C&D, R&T, M/T, etc. would [censored] their pants in this car.

calling that a street car is baloney.

A very nice build, and super fast. But a STREET car?

Missing a lot of safety equipment and tech that every real street car has to haul around with it. And lots more.

All the dedicated drag racers are way too one dimensional, a car needs a performance ENVELOPE not just straight line speed.
