Maybe the oil's so clean because it's doing a lousy job of suspending contaminates and leaving them in the engine.

Uh yeah....ok

So this little HONDA gas engine should produce so much [censored] that the oil should come out black and sludgy after less than 4k of use? I didn't say it was [censored] and span, just clean looking. When I drain the Amsoil out of my Dmax after 24k miles, it looked better than the the PZ that came out of the Honda. Just how contaminated is a gas engine supposed to produce after 3-4k of use?

The first one is an offensive term for persons of Latin American descent.

You should be able to figure out the 2nd one yourself.

Sp***c is offensive and should be censored. Cr*p on the other hand is another story, a coin toss. The owner/owners of the site should be able to set it up any way they want. I think we have a good thing going here, and a great way to share and exchange ideas! I'd hate to see it ruined over how the software is set up.

Hey cowhorse, I used Castrol Synthetic Blend for 5,000 miles in my 2000 Nissan P/U, and I thought, based upon what I saw, visually, that it could easily go to 8k-10k before oil change.

Well, I changed the oil to 5w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic and oil filter, and the oil turned dark by 1,000 miles. (Same color as the Castrol at 5k).

Before using Castrol, I used Conoco, Quaker State, or Pennzoil 5w30 Dino, then Conoco SynBlend on regular oci 3-4k, color was always black as night. No UOA tests done to see if it needed to be changed. Didn't know about such oil tests until I came here to this website.

Good God I was just asking a question, not trying to change the BITOG processes.....funny. And sp*ck isn't offensive in the way I was using it as in "sp*ck and span" referring to cleanliness. I didn't really think the word cr*p to be offensive either......oh boy what have we come to? Having to defend integrity over a few ridiculous words.......

ANYHOO, I appreciate the input. I believe Castrol is the way for me to go on my next change and just keep it that way. Less expensive and it just makes me feel all happy and warm.....or something.

Hispanic and span.

Guys, let's do our research before we start a witch hunt. This was a turn of phrase that has it's origins in the 16th century.
From wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spic_and_Span :
"...the name from a common phrase meaning extremely clean, "spick and span", which was a British idiom first recorded in 1579, and used shortly afterwards in Samuel Pepys's diary. A spick was a spike or nail, a span was a very fresh wood chip, and thus the phrase meant clean and neat and all in place, as in being nailed down. The "span" in the idiom also is part of "brand span new", now more commonly rendered "brand spanking new", and has nothing to do with the words "Spanish" or "Hispanic"."
