Where are you going to find the 0W-8 the crown takes? My dealership parts didn’t even know 0w-8 existed. And was shocked when I told them they don’t have it.

Or is yours the turbocharged that takes 0w-20?

It's neither. It's still the old 1.8L engine that takes 0w-20

Only the XSE Hybrid gets the M20A engine, that takes 0w-16 (and the Corolla Cross Hybrid)

The maintenance minder is also set for 5,000 miles, but the OCI is 10,000 miles according to the owner's manual, so it's not as brainless as you suggest. the 5,000 mile stuff is for inspections and tire rotations under the regular schedule

Then there is the age-old "The Car Care Nut" Youtube videos advising why one should do 5k OCI's.

What is the service interval for severe service? My opinion is most drivers fall into the severe service category, even if they think they don’t. Cold temperatures? Idling in traffic? Short trips?
