Just bought this car about 45 days ago with ~72300 miles, already on oil change #2(80k). I plan on using the VRP 5w-30 for 5k OCI initially, I will sample after a couple more changes and see how the VRP looks at 5k and maybe go to 7500. I've always planned on just using the AC Delco upf64r filters, I can get them locally at AutoZone for 10.99 or RA for 7.36 but gotta buy at least 4 to save any money with shipping added. I usually keep a stock anyway so that's not a big deal to me. Plan to keep this car for a long time, and at my current rate of mileage, I will be over 300k in about 4 years, maybe less.

With all the fram issues currently and others, is the only other good options the PG made filters? My local AAP has the Carquest premiums currently on sale for 8.99. I chose the upf64r due to the decent efficiency and the 35psi bypass valve, plus it's what the manual recommends. I'm fine with using the upf64r, but is there anything better currently? With an OCI basically every month or so I would like to get a supply built up of whatever I decide, so what filter would BITOGs use?

Rock Auto also has Hengst, Mahle, and Baldwin.

Or, you could go to Walmart and get a Fram Endurance (claims to be good for 25k) you can use for 2-3 OCI's :D

Doesn't your car have an OLM? What OCI has it been suggesting?

I always liked baldwin, use b1441 on my lml duramax, and yes the endurance is an option, but I am not going to run it for more than one oci I don't think. Yes it does, currently with about 4k its at 48% I think.

If youre considering RA for the filters you might see if they have any Champ filters available for that application. The XP synthetic was available for less than the AC and the XP is the same exact can as the AC but with better media. Even the white can Champs PH10064 are identical to the standard AC PF64 and theyre a third of the price at $1.60 ea
The PF63 is not a direct match, there are some differences.

Is there any issue with just using the regular pf64? There's a notice from GM that says only to use them when the upf64 is unavailable, but they are 3.23 each, when buying a 12-pk case from RA. They also have the white can champ ph10060 for 1.60. I'm open to buying wherever, I'm just trying to decide on what to stock up on.

I think at this point since I still have 2 more upf64r left in my supply, I will cut the one open that I take off and see how it looks, then go from there.

The Champ number is PH10064. Other than the color of the paint they are the same filter as a AC PF64.
I havent seen anything on that application requiring a UPF64.

This is the PF63 and the PH10063 Champ. Very much the same filter.

After seeing the new e core endurance filters, that might be what I end up going with after my couple upf64r are gone. Either that or just sticking with the upf64r ac Delcos
