My spouse and I have driven Toyotas for the last 15 or so years, and I do all of the maintenance on these vehicles, including oil changes. I can remember the first time I changed the oil in one of the Toyotas, complaining about/not caring much for the cartridge-style oil filter design Toyota used. However, after many miles and subsequent oil changes, I have gotten quite used to and comfortable/proficient with changing this filter style. So much so that I now prefer it. I like that I can open a box with a new filter and check it out and inspect it thoroughly (and make unscientific assumptions based on what it looks like), and not worry about what I can't see-like the much more traditional/conventional spin-on type oil filter I was accustomed to.

Now we have traded in the Highlander and gotten a 2025 Tahoe with the 5.3L V8, so I will now be maintaining a vehicle that requires the more traditional spin-on type oil filter. I'm a 5k mile OCI kind of guy, and don't plan on going away from that train of thought on this vehicle. I have watched hours of YouTube videos of various people cutting open the filters to examine design elements and filtration media, and I'm not any closer to selecting a filter than when I started watching these videos. It feels like quite a rabbit hole. Kind of like how the marketing these days brags about how many miles you can get on an oil filter or the oil itself-it really doesn't do it for me. I'm not going to take the time to get my tools, get the truck on ramps and change the oil and not change a $5-$15 oil filter that takes 3 minutes to change. Filtering efficiency and manufacturing consistency speak much more to me than keeping an oil filter on a car for 20k miles.

Should I buy an AC Delco PF63 off of rock auto for $4.50 and call it a day?

Carquest Premium (Advance Auto Parts), MicroGard Select (O'Reillys) or new Mobil 1 (Walmart). All nice construction and quality build, and all on the high side of efficiency (MGS is 99% @ 25u and other two are 99% @ 20u).

You're going to get dozens of recommendations, and only you can navigate the rabbit hole to satisfy your choice.

I've had a couple of GM vehicles go over 200k miles on AC Delco filters.
I say run the AC Delco .
At least with the ACDelco , you know the bypass valve rating is correct for your application.
if the filter manufacturer specs a filter for your vehicle you can rest well knowing it’s correct.

Awhile back @Astro14 suggested using Toyota filters on our beloved '01 Tundra.
This advice was spot on; I would like to pass it on.
Buy a few and keep 'em on the shelf; you won't be sorry.

I do 5K or 1 year services and swap the filter every 2nd service. M1 5w30.

I have only used Toyota OEM filters and never had filter related wear issues. This on up to 24 year old cars that I owned since new. So use OEM and come back when the engine wears out to tell us how long the motor lasted;)

Stick with AC Delco (I would not order it online, grab it at Walmart)

Or go with Mobil 1 (non M+H)

I use orielly Microgard Select MSL10255 heavy duty can, silicone gasket, synthetic filter media, high efficiency, economical price.
