New mower. Have dumb questions

I don't see the point of an hour meter for any non commercial OPE . Whatever floats your boat ...

I disagree. My Honda mower died from a worn out cylinder bore, because I didn't change the air filter often enough to compensate for the sandy soil in my yard. An hour meter would have helped kick me in the nuts, and realize my neglect.

Hours on a mower can be estimated pretty easily. I would have no idea how many hours are on the string trimmer or edger without an hourmeter. After so many hours you're supposed to sgrease the head and maybe the drive shaft. You could just do it every once in a while but it's nice to know when it's time.

I too have a Troy Bilt tb-130 and love it. I didn’t want self propelled as it’s just something else to go out and have to fix.

I’ve changed the oil a couple of times, same spark plug since new, starts first or second pull after pulling it out of winter storage. Maybe a little older than yours. I will never get rid of it.

No hour meter on it but I did put one on my Troy Bilt snowblower

I change the oil in my ZTR once a year . I clean the air filter every other time I mow . That's been my routine for the last seven years when I bought it . Doesn't use a drop of oil between changes that I can see . An hour meter would just give me something else to worry about .

get your spares when you can as i believe Honda is OUT of the MOWER business, i got new wheels etc for my 20+ HRX GREAT MOWERS!!!

I love threads like this! Top of the year, Home Depot had the HRXHYA blade brake clutch hydro model on sale for $699, so I snagged one up. It was a leftover model, that had the camshaft problem fixed under recall, then resold...to me. And I LOVE it. I also bought a Toro commercial unit a year earlier, but it's like steering a bulldozer around the yard. Total overkill for my use case. The Honda is way lighter, and easier to maneuver. Sad to see Honda cave and go electric. Ah well. Got mine.

My picture didn't upload
I don't understand the logic of installing a hour meter on 2 cycle equipment. It's not like you ever need to change the oil. Other maintenance items like spark plugs and air filters should be changed annually or based upon a visual inspection. Most people would only change them when a decrease was noted in performance.
