"More color, less clutter"

Really? What happened to having 1 Mobil 1? Still a cluttered product line to me but I'm sure XOM has done their marketing homework and feels this is the best approach. LOL

I am thinking with my dipstick after all.

I only purchase Redline so I could really care less about what mobil 1 labels look like. Castrol does have some fairly pathetic ads out there I agree. I just find it humorous that so many here get all riled over a label change. Life goes on....

As BITOG oil geeks it's interesting to observe the various reactions to this thread. On BITOG everything about oil is discused, from molicules to labels. Of course advertising changes with the times as well as the type of bottles and or labels. I supposed when oil companies changed from metal cans to cardbord cans many scoffed at that. If it was good enough for grandpa it's good enough for me syndrome. Imangine the comments made when plastic bottles came out. What's this world coming to!
As to the new M1 labeling all their product line is consistant now. Engine oil to ATF. Big PaPa XM will no doubt take notice of this thread. Wonder what their marketing dept. thinks?

I agree. Everything in tis country is going European including, our Govt.

I think it would be very interesting if someone that was on the design team could comment on why they went this way. I have no doubt there was a lot of time and money spent on this decision. Companys know that many people buy things based on looks alone. They also know that even people that know what there looking for can be persuaded by the looks of something or packaging. If this werent true then everything would just have black and white lables with some info or specs on it. It would be interesting to know what market they were targeting with these looks. Unfortionally for them, ill be sticking to PP or QS HP for a while. That darn iron debate finally got the best of me.
