New Guidelines for Cholesterol Readings

I dont agree for the vast majority of people and people should not take this advice without a discussion with a heart specialist.
Well of course.

Doctors and "professionals" got us here. When you are in a hole and want out? Stop digging. The main thing I agree with most docs on is:

Be more active. Aerobic and resistance training. Diet advice? Nope.

That's all I will say.

Im a big believer in medical advancements and researching/choosing the right doctors as well as my own research.
Depending on who you are your your condition statins are a blessing.

No cure/drug for Lipoprotein A
However modern medicine dictates getting the LDL as low as possible to help possible offset this horrible problem.
No matter what you do 80 to 90% of the LIPO A is hereditary. (statins do not help)

My level is 116.5 - nmol ( just learned this form my own post so not as bad if it was mil)

You MAY have been tested recently, if not, you will soon one day. Being I know you take care of yourself you WILL want to know the results just like you want to know you LDL.
Science says 1 in 5 people in this forum have high Lipo A

I’m glad you’re happy with your treatment, Al. My research for me has provided data that I’m better served by controlling my diet and exercise, without including the additional risks of statins. I’ve occasionally used red yeast rice, which has made positive changes in the numbers the doctor was low-level concerned about.

I’ve come to grips with my mortality; while I don’t want it hastened, I’m not going to take 16 pharmaceuticals all with their own side effects and assorted counteracting drugs just trying to prolong the years that a nursing home will destroy the financial legacy I’m trying to leave to my children.

I was prescribed statins but will not take them. All my my extremities went numb when taking the lowest dose. My mother took them for a while and she suffered permanent nerve damage from it destroying her ability to drive. I use alternative methods.

A lot of drug studies are underwritten by drug companies themselves. Often cannot be trusted.

Remember when the tobacco products were touted for health? Guess who paid for those studies.

Articles from the 20s and 30s for the Tour de France cyclists, they would smoke cigarettes with the belief that the cigarette smoke opened up their lungs and Airways to enhance more oxygen into their blood!

And nothing beats a good slab of mutton along with deep fried pork rind for breakfast.

But I degrass as I have used slick 50 in my engine oil many times:-)
