Hey FZ1 you might have a point there, but his daughters help make him look a lot brighter to me!! Sorry for the off topic, but the Force daughters make me feel kind of funny...

The test actually does have some value. But I do think carrying out wear scars to three places and declaring a winner based on the test ALONE is over the top. Even Amsoil doesn't say that.

Has your oil usage issue been resolved yet?
I would like to know if this is the first SSO installation. Do you plan to do a UOA?

Yes, first useage. UOA around 12-15k. Car will burn some oil of any brand at high rpm.

Great buster, I'm really looking forward to your UOA. I am thinking that an engine when first introduced to a new oil has to be conditioned to it. I believe that a lot more of the special ingredients are absorbed or otherwise used up. That's why I think the first change should be done sooner than normal. Please consider this when you plan a OCI interval. Once the engine is up to speed, there will be more additives available to do the job they were designed to do. What do you think

Well I have 2 vehicles running SSO,my wifes 03 3.8L Impala and my daughters 04 1.6L Aveo. Impala is a short hopper with full temp runs at least daily, the Aveo is a round town cruiser with a standard trans that gets driven on the hard side. Both are going 1 year or 17,000 miles. Imp uses a little oil so we'll see if that clears up as well. I am anxious to see the reults but they are a loooong way off.

Bambam,
A lot of SSO users have noticed how much smoother their engines run soon after installation. Have you noticed this as well? I had an oil burning issue with my '93 Civic that was remediated by the 0W-30 synthetic oil. It took 3 or 4 changes to get where it is now. I first went to TSO at 118,000 miles and liked the performance that it afforded me. Now with 246,000 miles, I am very pleased with the SSO and plan it's continued usage.

check out pickled's post on the prior page about SSO in his C6.

I have refused to listen to either one for 1 week. I have the sound imbedded in my brain, especially the Impala that always sounds harsh when starting(to me anyway)the Aveo sounds smooth but next tuesday I will listen to the Impala, wife goes to work at 4 am so I avoid it then but she looks at me funny as I run away with fingers stuck in both ears when we are gonna go out and she is gonna start the car. I'm also giving 1-2 tanks of fuel before I check mileage, though I expect no measureable improvement there.

As if this wasn't bizzare enough, when I did the change on the Aveo I told my daughter to start it and started to vacate the area with fingers implanted in my ear,my 2 year old grandson trotting behind me with his fingers in his ears like Poppa!!

That's too funny, kids are very entertaining at times. When can we expect the aural assessment of your two cars?

I can describe my experiences with it in my corvette with one word QUIET- I love it!! Throttle response is much more linear also and smooth right up to 5500 RPM.

I also think it has made my engine a tad more quiet. I'm skeptical of saying it's definitely the case, but I seem to notice less vibration at higher rpms.

I have a sample of Amsoil 0w20 waiting to be sent off from my fiancee's Mazda 3. That should be an interesting UOA the way that car is driven. Basically severe stop and go for 3 miles a day to high speed driving conditions.

I listen sunday and report in after that..

In general it is ,I have read much of the literature and many issues of Amsoil action . I think you are reading much too much in to the comment because the information is as I implied ,just as is adaptive molecules and antisludge formulations . Hatred for Amsoil, doubt it. It is a fine oil as many others are. Though it is not the magic elixer that many who use and sell it claim it or it seems to be. I have through out my years of being up to my elbows in gas, diesel and lpg fueled engines to take the info presented with some thought. Pablo you are so sensitive but that is why we all love you..

Hi,
thanks cheetah............

Its all Turkey droppings Marketing - and that snares the largely uninformed and susceptable populace regarding lubricants

Just like "our oil is the best..........." (or 400000k OCIs as a regular possibility) which is actually believed by some purveyors

Edited To use a post from "a master" in the field ... should I go on?

I've run Amsoil and other oils and spend more time behind a wheel commuting than most.

It is oil. Is it a good oil? Yes. It is *not* a magic anything.

If you think so great. But you are fooling yourself posting what you did above.

Again, I like Amsoil. but it is NOT MAGIC...

You don't need to defend spending your $$ for it.

I don't.
