Hello all, I bought a 2007 Jeep Compass with 56,000 km on it back in september and recently did an oil change (61,000km) with 5-20 Mobil 1 full synthetic with a Mobil 1 oil filter, after driving it for a few days I noticed it felt alot better than whatever was in there before.

But now for the real question, im heading to the states in a few weeks and plan to stock up on oil and filters, Ive heard alot of good about Penzoil but I would like to know witch "variation" you guys recommend, and also other brands of oil to pick up to try out.

And what filter would you pair with this? Ill most likely be buying enough oil for 5 oil changes and probably a few more than 5 filters. (7500km+ OCI)

I mostly do short distance stop and go driving, some highway (approx 400km a month) sometimes exceeding 130km/h, and sometimes mudding to show my friends with big trucks I didnt buy a granny car

I regularly visit Pt Huron MI wally world to get my Synpower. It's half the price than what it is over here at [censored] tire. I have excellent results with VSP 5-20 in my Tundra. I'm also sold on the P1 filters.

I assume you plan to stick with synthetic? Walmart up here typically has decent deals on conventional oil like Pennzoil yellow bottle for 12.88 or so a jug. Check advance auto parts, autozone and walmart, pepboys as well. (depends where u are/where ur going). Sometimes they have oil and filter deals that are a good deal. Good luck enjoy the trip!!

This.

Pennzoil Ultra, Pennzoil Platinum, Quaker State Ultimate Durability or Kendall GT-1 full synthetic . Any of these oil would serve you well. I like WIX brand oil filters.

Alright I will definitely pick some of these up.

And what are your guys opinions on Fram oil filters, ive heard some very different opinions on them

Uh-oh
K. Many here feel very strongly against fram filters. Personally I've never had a single issue with them.
That being said I buy filters at napa when they have their yearly special.
If you are going stateside to buy all this then I'd splurge on the fram ultra filters. They can go 15000 miles,so 24000 kms. So buy 10 and you should be good for life.
If you can't find ultra, then I would do the Caterham blend using M1 0w-40 and tgmo 0w-20. Mix 50/50 and you've got an extremely high viscosity index oil which is ideal for winter starts, and end up a 0w30 that we just can't buy here in Canada.
The M1 0w-40 jugs at Walmart should be around 25 bucks. Considering the dollar is near par you are saving 20 bucks a jug roughly, and to be honest I've never seen a jug of M1 0w-40 in Canada. Just 13 dollar quarts.

Ok so I picked up 3 filters: Bosch D+, Fram Ultra, and a Purolator Classic.

And I also got two 5qt jugs of oil: Penzoil Platinum, and PYB

What do you guys think my next oil change should be with, ill be changing it before or slightly after winter starts.

What to buy? Whatever is on sale.

For the next oil change? You cannot go wrong with any combination of your current stash. All are caliber filters and oils.

Whimas,

For your Jeep I'd say stick to your Mobil 1 in the weight required for the Compass along with the M 1 filter and you should be fine!

If your looking for other possible brands the most current I'm currently using in my 01' Durango would be Pennzoil "Platinum" with a Purolator oil filer. In addition I've also tried Quaker State, Valvoline and the lastly Kendall GT all in synthetic with excellent results.

I'm curious, why you want to stock up on what sounds allot of oil and filters I can't say. I figure all you need is one lube oil and filter for the entire trip. OK maybe one going and one coming back is all you need.

Maybe you can also consider an "extended" synthetic oil.
