OCI for 2.0L Turbo DI Chevy Blazer + Oil Recommendations

Very interesting. Any sign of varnish so far through the oil fill port?
No. I’m only at about 16k miles but nothing. I would expect that M1 EP will keep it very clean.

5k is six months for me. I change religiously.

The engine isn’t the quietest at idle and I sometimes think about trying QS or Valvoline to see if it quiets it down a bit. Not sure it will, plus I have a lot of confidence in Mobil to keep it clean and protect well.

I think it’s a very solid powertrain. I’ll likely do a spill and fill on the trans at 40k. It does pretty good on gas, especially at 70-75 on the highway. Wish it had a little higher specific output but I think the benefit to the just ok output is that it’s not overly stressed and should perform well in the long run.

Thanks for the info!

I did a drain in fill in my 2018 Terrain with the 9T55 before selling it. Very easy. Looks like the 9T60 should be the same, from what I've seen.

I used Pennzoil Dexron VI because it was the cheapest full synthetic. I'd recommend either new plugs from RockAuto, found under "Plug Adapter," or some PTFE sealant on the thread. I marked how far the plug was in the transmission housing before pulling them, then tightened them the same distance in.

Thanks again.

when she first bought her 2013 the owners manual and the window sticker did not mention 91 octane or better anywhere...later revisions of the owners manual showed 91 or better was recommended and this was pointed out to me on the Malibu Forum...her MPGs went from 18 MPG averages in her type of driving to 22 MPG averages so using 91 or better (again hers gets 93 Top Tier Costco super unleaded)...

some that had issues with their engines either did not use synthetic oil and/or used 87 octane gasoline's...your engine is slightly different than hers or the Cadillac's LTG 2.0T and the newer one's may indeed run fine on 87 octane...

good luck with your choice

Bill

Do you have a trans fluid procedure you can send to me?

Thanks for the info! I think the newer 2.0T allows for regular unleaded gas by just retarding timing, but I'll probably still run a mid-grade or premium for the extra power. Eases my mind to know that it hasn't had any major issues.
I think you know this by now given this thread is old, but you have a very different 2.0T in your 2023 Blazer than the video you linked. Night n day differt. LSY not an LTG.

Yeah, I realized it after watching a few more videos and reading up on some more literature. I ended up purchasing the vehicle and love it! Good power and 30+ mpg. Do you have any experience with the LSY?

I don't, other than the very limited info I could gather online. Last spring I was interested in a couple of used 2021 GMC Acadias with the LSY 2.0T and did a bunch of poking around then, but wound up going with my 2021 Equinox 1.5T. The LSY is a neat looking engine. It uses a cam tower as opposed to a cam/valve cover and it has the cylinder deactivation solenoids sticking up and out of the "cam cover" sort of making it look like a bunch of ignition coils up there. It uses an electric water pump as well.
