Hello. I'd like feedback on this. I may be wrong on some points however the same Valvoline "families" of motor oils sold at Walmart, Napa, Lowes, Home Depot and Advance Auto, etc. which are sold by the quart and 5 quart jugs appear to have very different formulations from package to package and store to store in some cases. When comparing the SDS, very few are listed as having the following: Distillates (Fischer-Tropsch), heavy, C18-50-branched, cyclic and linear, even though they have the exact same branding and packaging. (same family / label / name). Obviously the PDS reads the same, but that only means the add pack should be the same.

Most others in the same "family" packaging list Lubricating oils (petroleum), or C20-50, hydrotreated neutral oil-based; Base oil, then some contain Distillates (petroleum), hydrotreated heavy paraffinic or a combination of the above but without containing Distillates (Fischer-Tropsch), heavy, C18-50-branched, cyclic and linear.

It is more understandable for oils sold in other countries to vary in formulation compared to USA formulations as long as the respective families of oils are consistent formulation but these inconsistent families of oil having very different formulations appear to be sold in the USA as such, so are customers getting ripped off concerning quality if choosing to purchase oils from Walmart since it appears their buying power allows them to motivate companies to provide a lesser quality product?

The following page shows examples to compare. Check out the ones ending in WM compared to the ones without, then search online to see where the product codes are sold. These are not the only instances that can be found directly on the Valvoline web pages. I also wonder if Mobil 1 and Pennzoil may be doing the same.
