I was checking out the newest 0w20 MSDS sheets from Mobil, and noticed that the Super Syn 0w20 now has GTL base stocks specifically listed. The MRV of the oil looks terrible compared to other 0w20 oils... and it doesn't carry a Dexos 1 cert... but the CAS # is the same as Pennzoil Ultra Platinum lists for their oils. This is the first time I've seen Mobil use GTL stocks in their oils. ALKYLAMINE CONFIDENTIAL 1 - < 5% H413 DISTILLATES (FISCHER - TROPSCH), HEAVY, C18-50 – BRANCHED, CYCLIC AND LINEAR 848301-69-9 50 - < 60% H304 SEVERELY HYDROTREATED HEAVY PARAFFINIC DISTILLATE 64742-54-7 1 - < 5% H304 SOLVENT DEWAXED HEAVY PARAFFINIC DISTILLATE 64742-65-0 1 - < 5% H304 ZINC DITHIOPHOSPHATE 68649-42-3 0.1 - < 1% H315, H318, H401, H411

The base oil is made with a waste product or an abundant so far natural gas. Can't say is it is a better that other base oil though and does nitpicking oil specs make any real world difference?

Not quite sure what you're trying to get at here... An observation was made to the chemical composition of a particular oil and a discussion ensued. This is a discussion board after all. Nobody was nitpicking anything. Also - F.T. Base stocks are natural gas derived - and of excellent quality. To use the phrase "made with a waste product" can be very misleading for someone reading this thread. Please elaborate on what you mean.
